A lot of corporations are going into the "we own the rights to all the images" schtick. Lots of modelmakers have been shafted when big corps have gone after them for daring to make a scale model of the big corporation's product.

Stupid, stupid, stupid people.

The legal departments (or at LEAST the marketing departments) ought to realize that this kind of thing is the BEST KIND of FREE publicity they can possibly get.

Exactly!

I take part in a watch forum: http://www.network54.com/Forum/78440/

People post pictures of watches all the time - and buy & sell them regularly as well. The owner of the forum sells watches, but he encourages support to other merchants as well...kind of ‘a rising tide raises all the boats’ approach.

This sort of enthusiasm for products - Seiko watches, Ford, or anything else - can only be GOOD for the folks doing the selling.

But then, Ford also built my Explorer with the cracked rear body panel (no recall although they say it is very common) and grinding rear differential (no recall, although they say it happens all the time).

I get the feeling Ford isn’t serious about selling cars...

I do believe they’ve all learned from Microsoft and the music industry. Nothing we buy is ours to do with as we please, or so it seems. Everything we do with what we’ve bought is subject to investigation and prosecution by the original manufacture and they don’t have to tell us if what we’re doing might result in legal action.

Here I sit using Vista, which refuses to cooperate with much of my previously purchased software and is subject to freezing, crashing etc. But can I use the XP that is on my other computer? No, I have to use this crappy program on this computer to remain legal. I’m getting really tired of it all.
