With all votes counted, the official Central Election Commission said the Nationalists had won 81 seats in the 113-seat legislature, against only 27 for the DPP, with four going to Nationalist-leaning independents, and one to a Nationalist satellite party.

Er, not Taiwan. The Pro-Chinese won big, the independence movement lost. But otherwise, yeah, really cool. A shame for Bush, that all the government changes happened after most of his term was over.
No, in each case Globalist Socialists have one. That IS good new for Bush and the CFR. The U.S. will be the next country on that list when we elect GuilliHillaRomneyCainBamaBee.

The DPP is philosophically much closer to the American Democrat Party, than their “pro-independence” moniker would seem to indicate.
The KMT if you will recall, was the government of all China before the revolution. After WWII, the communists forced General Chiang Kai-Shek’s forces to flee to Formosa.
The acting government of China, became the government of Taiwan. There was some blood shed. One of the most infamous days in Taiwan, is “2/28”.
The locals, many of Fujian heritage, have always been a bit put out by the Beijingers as a result, many prefer Fujian dialect to the Mandarin of the mainland.
The KMT has in theory continued to insist, the ROC is the true government of China. The DPP by contrast, tends toward independence. Not because they’re more anti-communist or pro-defense, but rather because the resent what in some ways some, consider an occupation of their island.
The DPP is largely the party representing the put-upon “minorities” with family backgrounds from Fujian. The KMT is the more politically conservative, pro-defense, traditional party which once ruled all of China.
IMHO even though the KMT which is against Taiwan independence won the legislature, they are in fact similar in many ways, to the GOP.
Ah. My apologies.
What I want to know is why a minuscule country like Taiwan has a 113 seat legislature. Talk about too much government, of course they do get into fist fights periodically, I like that kind of passion.
Interesting side note:
The Taiwan (ROC) flag is very similar to the American flag.
The colors, are red white and blue. It’s even got white on blue, where we have our own 50 white stars on blue.
The larger face of the flag, is all red.
The blue portion, where our own has stars, contains one large white star.
That blue portion, if I understand correctly, is the KMT symbol...
They're like the Republican Party, if the Republican Party was run by the mafia and wanted to surrender to al Qaeda.
