He didnt say anything quite like that, or anything else, in Hud
You're right. It think the correct quote is, "I'd rather have em playin' with their toys than playin' with themselves. :}

"Lets address the root problems and quite setting up more show us your papers moments." DoughtyOne, you saved me a lot of typing.
The root problem is that our governments have become giant entitlement warehouses where anybody can shop.
In a multitude of misguided ways, our governments have taxed us for nearly half our income and have enticed others to become government dependents.
If I thought that mandating more IDs would solve the problem, I might be more supportive. But I am more than skeptical that anything will really be accomplished.
I personally have SIX photo IDs in my wallet right now. That is what is required for me to accomplish what I want to do. If illegal immigrants are thriving in our society with none, then it is not for lack of IDs, but for incentives to operate without them.
In order to deprive criminals of access to guns, I have had to pay for background checks about a dozen times in the last five years, for a total of probably $600. Does my sacrifice of time and resources work? Of course not.
My daughters Social Security number is being used by somebody in another state. As far as I know, nothing whatever has been done about this. Until the opportunities to use the IDs that we are already required to have are exhausted, I will remain unconvinced.

You’re right. It was “Cool Hand Luke.”

"If the feds would do their job and get the fence built maybe this wouldnt be such a big issue anymore."
That's my main objection to the RealID act or a national ID. The feds sherked their border control/immigration responsibilities for YEARS, and now we have to pay with our liberty. None of this would have been necessary had our borders been secure all along.

Can someone tell me what exactly a Drivers License is for other than paying the state for a it? It really has nothing to do with your driving ability, just that you paid the state money and therefore you can drive.
What a joke!

Well, that was the Congressman's point too. Neither of those actual quotes were spoken in the movies, but that same dialogue has been distilled down to one short sentence in each case:
"We don't need no steeenking badges", and "Play it again, Sam" were what people were saying as they came out of the movie theater because that was what they remembered from the movie.
Thus both of those statements have become part of language, even though they were never spoken literally, word for word on the screen.

I'm shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here... Actually "I'm shocked, shocked..." were the last words of Julius Rosenberg, if memory serves.

It was actually the captain, and the quote was as follows:
What we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach, so you get what we had here last week which is the way he wants it. Well, he gets it. And I don't like it any more than you men.
