Do you suppose the underlying idea behind this story is to keep guns and gun control in the news as often as possible while the Supreme Court is mulling over their 2nd amendment decision that will be forthcoming?

As a Military Dad (one in Fallujah currently) I was more than highly offended.

There is another issue that I didn't see in Melanie's essay. Now maybe I missed it (I tend to scan issues that get my blood boiling) but isn't there another Huge False Premise of the article?

Since when did being ACCUSED if a crime equal a conviction for statistical purposes?

Actually, I've been expecting the 'support the troops, not the war' mantra to start disintegrating soon. Vietnam Veterans know all about this.

Per the original story at the NYT, this is just the first of a series of hatchet jobs in a series call "War Torn: A series of articles and multimedia about veterans of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan who have committed killings, or been charged with them, after coming home."

Disgusting traitors. I saw this covered on Fox News, but didn't catch the audio. Hopefully they are shamed into a retraction and cancellation of the series, but I doubt it.
