I’m still trying to figure out why Kristol debased himself by taking the offer from the NY Times. It’s like buying stock in a slide-rule manufacturing company in 1972.
I think it’s a win-win for Kristol. He gets paid well for doing a very undemanding job. He gets to laugh at the freaks who threaten to hang him from a lamp post ala Mussolini. He gets to smile provokingly at his neighbors in the office. And if the Times collapses, he goes to another job. He’s certainly getting a lot of publicity out of this one.
