Rush Limbaugh, Truth Detector (Vanity/rant)
The Rush Limbaugh Show ^ | 1/14/2008 | Rush Limbaugh

Posted on 01/14/2008 1:51:30 PM PST by Servant of the Cross

Wake up, Republicans (and Christians in the South)!

Rush was fantastic today. For those who did not hear him it would be worth your while to hear a replay or read transcripts. First, the “battle” monologue at the open (he replayed in hour 3 based upon demand) regarding the Democrat’s racial divide was priceless. One for the history books.

But he moved on to the Republicans. He destroyed the narrative coming out of the Huckabee and McCain camps that “the Reagan era is over”; “the Bush era is over”. There are moves underfoot in these camps to redefine conservatism, and their personal "new" era. Nah baby, nah. Conservatism is immutable. The Reagan era is NOT over. It is just seeking a leader to boldly lay claim to the mantle. He stated that when the conservative philosophy is boldly proclaimed, the people respond. He specifically mentioned that Fred Thompson did exactly this in the debate in Myrtle Beach, SC and the people immediately responded. He also “undressed” John McCain and Mike Huckabee as NOT conservatives:

John McCain

"If you don’t know me by now …" (a Paul Shanklin song on McCain not to be missed)

Christians in SC, please don't forget we do know McCain:

Dobson says no way

an oldie but a goodie: McCain on the "intolerant" right

Mike Huckabee:

There is something amiss with the love affair between Mike and the press (and is humility AWOL with him?)

Ten Things to know about Mike Huckabee:

1. Soft-on-crime Governor who went on a pardon/commutation spree

2. Pro-instate-tuition for illegal aliens and other giveaways – poor record on immigration

3. Fiscal liberal Tax-and-spender as Governor

4. Dissembled about his record when challenged (pardons, taxes, ethics)

5. Not a conservative, hurt conservatives in Arkansas

6. Ethics issues, taking public money for private use

7. Flipflopper, on immigration, Cuba and other issues

8. An incompetent Jimmy Carteresque boob on foreign policy (Condi elaborates here)

9. Is a nanny-stater supporter of smoking bans and enviro-wacko CO2 caps

10. Endorsed by the NH National Education Association (NEA)!

This is the record of a pro-life liberal who seems to exploit his Christianity more than model it.

letter from an Arkansas Christian

Conservatives in SC, unite! Just say “NO” to John and Mike.

end rant

So is Rush supporting Thompson? An endorsement by Rush and Hannity and the likes could really help to get his campaign off the floor. What is Rush waiting for????

This is the record of a pro-life liberal who seems to exploit his Christianity more than model it.

True enough, but it seems that many evangelicals have bought into identity politics that is the Democrat stock in trade, and care less about a man's character or stance on the issues than about his professed religion.

Rush was on FIRE today. A hall-of-fame show. Opening monologue was one of the top 5 ever.

He never "endorses" a candidate... as i understand his perennial position

But will examine each candidate's stand on social/fiscal conservative standards.

Wow! That photo in the barber shop with the press gathered around is eerily similar to an opening scene in the movie The Untouchables. Robert DeNiro, playing Al Capone, is getting a shave in a barber shop, and around him is clustered members of the press, and they're all laughing together while the press is lapping up Capone's obvious self-serving malarkey about being a respectable misunderstood businessman.

I had to do a double-take to make sure I wasn't looking at a still from that scene in the movie.

Rush’s contribution to the Conservative movement has been immeasurable. He has almost single-handedly kept week-kneed politician’s feet to the fire and proudly advanced Conservatism at a time when many were content to just sit and sulk in the shadows.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was staged to replicate the scene ...

It seems to me that Huckabee excels in PR for himself (ala the bookcase/cross video)

Peggy Noonan suggested that he is "more James Carville than Jim Nabors" here.

Okay, maybe not an “endorsement” as such, but how about extolling Fred??? It could really turn things around. Rush has that much “power” and he knows it. Why has he not been singing Fred’s praises until now? As far as I can tell, from the little I am able to listen to Rush, he doesn’t like any of the other choices too much. Come on Rush we need Fred!!!!

Here is one for the Fredsters:

MR. FRED (Sung to the television theme of ‘Mr. Ed’)

Oh, I’ll say it with force in my discourse
I never will lie or steal your horse…
Yes, I’m the guy you must endorse!
I am Mr. Fred!

A vote for me is cer-tain-ly
The choice you should make today…
And speaking most con-certed-ly,
I’ve just one thing to say:

Oh, I am the boy from Tennessee
My experience past?... An at-tor-ney…
Well, at least I played one on TV!
I am Mr. Fred!

A vote for me is certainly
The choice you should make today…
And speaking most con-certed-ly,
I’ve just one thing to say:

Oh, I’ll say it with force in my discourse
I never will lie or steal your horse
Yes, I’m the guy you must endorse!
I am Mr. Fred!

Grinnin’ Spiel - aka: John McCain’s Theme song
(Sung to ‘Spinning Wheel’ – Blood Sweat n Tears)

My polls go up, my polls come down...
Grinnin’ spiel gains no ground.
Talkin’ ‘bout my troubles, yeah, I’ll try ‘n spin:
“Tired’ ragin’ loony” they’re callin’ me again!

I get no money, and so I... I call you’re phone...
Grinnin’ spiel gets flush’d down the throne.
They’re talkin’ ‘bout my troubles, and you’re... you’re all concerned:
Tired ragin’ loony wants a presidential term!

So you find my neglect to resign...
From this race, a terrible sign eh?
Would you mind my selection in time...
Just let me whine to dim your mind...
And snow you... My true colors... they’re unreal.

Hey, I’m waiting… just for you...
If not me, will Ron Paul do?
Drop all this double talk, n’ let me slide...
Bet you I’m a phony
I’m just goin’ for the ride!

OK... Here we go, hold on tight:
You all know the old gospel hymn, ‘Michael Row the Boat Ashore’, which was sung by freed slaves who rowed long boats from Saint Helena Island to the mainland during the American Civil War. Here is my version, as applied to Mike Huckabee...

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
GETS’ YOUR HELP TO SPIN HIS TALE, HE’S A USER,
LETS MAD FELONS OUT OF JAIL, PARDONS TO-OO-YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
HIS STARE IS DEEP AND STARRY EYED, PAL HE’S COOL, YEAH,
MILKIN’ DUMMIES FULL OF PRIDE... GLAD HE KNEW-EW-YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
M-S-M IS ALL ABOARD... PAL THEY RULE YA,
M-S-M WILL WIELD THE SWORD WHEN THEY CHOO-OOSE, YEAH.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
WHEN HE’S CHOSEN THEY’LL RING ‘M OUT... IN THE NEWS, YEAH,
HIS MEDIA BUDDIES ALL GONNA SHOUT: HE’S A LOO-OO-SER!

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.
LIBS WILL JUMP WITH JUBILEE... HOW THEY FOOLED YA,
THEN WE’LL GET OL’ HILLARY, AND SHE’LL RU-ULE YA.

MICHAEL SOLD HIS SOUL FOR SURE, PAL HE’S FOOLED YA,
MICHAEL KNOWS YOU’RE INSECURE... YOU’RE A LOO-OO-SER.

I thought someone said he sounded like he was supporting Romney. I have little doubt Fred would be his first choice.

It seems many people heard what they wanted to hear. I heard all but 20 minutes and thought I might have missed a big announcement.
