“Huckabee is pulling in a lot of conservatives.”

They are not aware out in Western Michigan of all the baggage that the tax-and-spend Huckster brings?

The conservative case against Huckabee:

And I said by having a higher standard of care—something beyond ‘reasonable doubt.’ It should be clear and convincing evidence. Scientific evidence.”

Isn't "beyond reasonable doubt" a higher standard than "clear and convincing evidence"?

You are right. I read tonight that lanny davis endorsed mccain, that should be a kiss of death.
Just looked at SC RCP, the two most recent polls show gomer at 18 and 19 with Mitt one behind.
In 1964 I watched the complete conventions on tv, dem and republican. Back then it was all day for five days i think. That was when i became a conservative. i was a mere 13.

It boggles my mind that people worry about early polling.
Rudy was leading in Michigan a few months back. Funny how polls change.

Except that the Michigan Democrat ballot is all screwed up this year and the only viable choices are Clinton or Uncommitted. And, if you vote Uncommitted, those delegates can still commit for Clinton later.

So it’s certainly likely that Democrats will decide to switch over and mess with the Republican race, at least those not voting for Clinton. And even if they are voting for Clinton, it’s pretty much a wasted vote. The turnout on the Democrat side should be light, given all this. If it’s heavy, then the people lobbying for a big Uncommitted vote are being listened to and it could be quite embarrassing for Clinton. We can only hope.

Thanks for the link.

With McCain and Huckabee doing well it just shows you how ignorant the average voter is. I’ll bet they know everything about who is doing well on TV programs like Dancing with the Stars though.

Funny how polls change.

Mitt's head-to-head poll numbers have had a year to change. But they continue to indicate that he is our most unelectable candidate.

This is the reality of the situation whether you want to believe it or not. Nor is there any reason to believe that the electorate is somehow going to warm up to him. They have seen a great deal of him during the last year and he has simply not been able to close the deal.

He might do well in MI tomorrow, but that is his home state. He spent a fortune in IA and NH and could not pull off either one. That speaks volumes.

Let’s just get him elected in Michigan and then worry about Mitt’s negatives later. Getting rid of McCain should be your top priority! The country needs Mitt right now. Of course, South Carolina will be a different situation.

Good news about NE Florida! I made calls to Michigan today and they were much more positive than the NH calls I made. I hope that is a good sign.

This is a must hear -- Sen. DeMint on why everyone should vote for Mitt and NOT McCain:

Michael Savage who broadcasts on at least 10 stations in the state of Michigan also endorsed Romney, albeit lukewarmly, on his show today.

Really? Wow. I know he seemed to like Mitt way back when and then kind of turned on him (and everyone else) when nobody would appear on his show. I wish they would go on there. Borders. Language. Culture. Can’t beat that.

Exactly ! Demorats are looking for another Dole, and they have found one in McCain.

Personally I like McCain. But his incompetence in economics scares me. This country is facing very serious economic problems, and I don’t want a McCain running the show.
Huckabee is not much better than McCain.

McCain could deliver Dole’s convention acceptance speech almost verbatim. Running against the Clintons, uplifting war hero, spent years in the senate fighting for this and that and those and them.

Both nice guys, popular with the media, but-—geez-—I really don’t want another 1996.

I agree and I just do not understand why? His apparent ‘Flip-Flops’ are, as I see it, no more egregious than the other candidates and, at the least, I would think his clearly demonstrated record of achievement and competence would trump the. My own personal opinion is the Reps are ready to go over the cliff rather than compromise slightly on those things that a President has little influence on in the end. Here comes Hillary! :-(

Cannot disagree with anything you wrote - Looks like a redux of Dole with a Keating/Amnesty/Age/Health kicker to me!

I remember watching Bob Dole’s acceptance speech at the convention in 1996. When Bob Dole mentioned something about money/corruption in politics, the camera turned to John McCain, who was in the audience. I saw something in McCain’s face. For whatever reason, it has stuck with me and I will never forget it. Maybe it’s me, but...
