What Fred said about issues being decidecd by core values in his tv interview with Charlie Rose nailed it for me. He had just voiced his core principles based on the founders' acknowledgement of a Higher Authority giving us our rights; he told Charlie R. that conservative principles would make a person come down on the side of prolife on that issue--Charlie didn't understand the difference between principles and issues.
I don't know why this man, Stemberger, has changed, but any thinking Christian can compare Huckabee's record and past pronouncements with his religious fervor which is making so many vote for him. It doesn't add up, and he cannot win on just a portion of the Christian vote.If he did win, neither can he govern as a conservative with his rhetoric. Christ told us to take care of the widows and children, the hungry, etc; but that directive was to individuals and the church. He also said obey the laws of the land (render unto Caesar).He declined to rule, even though He could have done.
My prayer is God help this country if people can't see past the abortion issue; the gay marriage issue; the terrorist issue (McCain and Huck want to treat Gitmo detainees like jaywalkers, bring them into our prison system, give them lawyers and rights like citizens, etc;
So Fred got in a year after the others and didn't have his campaign up to speed for a while and people have come up with Fred may have once lobbied for a proabortion gp. and may have posed the famous question for Richard Nixon. The media has done its best to get us someone who will meet their criteria or be easy to dismiss once the nomination is obtained--i.e. McCain or Huck.
Truly mindboggling!
