Trouble is, those *free alternatives* are no longer freeways. In fact many of them are designed to irritate the hell out of drivers to the point of dangerous behavior.
Then there’s that little problem of building toll roads in the ROW of public owned land. If that’s not double taxation, I don’t know what is.
