Renting light bulbs? Such are the wonders of utility deregulation. Utility deregulation is one of the biggest scams of our time. There is absolutely nothing good about it. The consumer in no way benefits from “competition”. All the prices are fixed.
Utilities are one of the few areas where a well regulated, preferably publicly owned, monopoly is appropriate. Taxpayers could storm city hall whenever this kind of “revenue generation” BS was employed.
I bought a G.E. 3 pack, 100 watt equivalent for $8.58 and I thought I over paid.
What is this country coming to! Geeze.

Some lawyer should consider a class action suit for all of the customers.
I have BGE as a power company. They said they got Home Depot to lower the price and charge a fee for that. Of course, they neglected to tell anyone to get the bulbs at Home Depot.
WHY did you PAY for them....?????? I would be sending their little “gift” BACK TO THEM. I would NEVER PAY THEIR FEE!!!! Just deduct it from your bill, but include a letter each month about why.
In my defense, I had been expecting a package at the time we got the bulbs. I did not realize what they were till after I opened them. I was like, huh? CFLs? OK.

I still think I would be SOL... it is a government-mandated fee that I have to pay if I want to buy power in this state.
