30 million each for 6 lacrosse players = 180 million.

And with another, I think, 37 potential claimants against Nifong that would be 43*$30 million or $1.29 billion in outstanding liability claimed?

BTW, is Nifong admitting guilt and does this transfer to the deeper pockets like the Durham taxpayers. The racists in Durham were the root cause of this so, that would be justice.

They were expected to contend that prospective defendants had no right under the Constitution to expect a police department to conduct an investigation in a certain way.

So the defense wants to argue Durham has no duty of care not to seek indictments against clearly innocent people. I think they will lose that point. The legislature could shield them, but a common law duty of care to investigate to seek the guilty not to indict obviously innocent is logical common law duty. It becomes an issue for the jury whether or not Durham failed in that duty and injured these plaintiffs but I think Durham had and has that duty.

But the players are suing other people along with Nifong for 30 million a piece.

Moreover, some of the supposed faults with the prosecution of the players weren't violations of federal law because they didn't include elements of racial or class bias, he said.

That's right. When the people being railroaded are rich white kids, the case "didn't include elements of racial or class bias." Is this guy living on Bizzaro World?

They guy grabbed for the brass-ring of fame and political success, and it blew up in his face. If you play with fire, you will get burned.

Under joint and several liability he could get stuck for $30 million each. Se he lists the max, and let’s the bankruptcy judge worry about it.

The pensions of the professors that signed that call for prosecution need to lose everything they have as well. I cant wait for that lawsuit to hit.

I don’t believe that they will be hit by any lawsuit. I believe that the settlement the 3 players made with Duke covered the 88 idiots.

The proverbial sh** has hit the fan in Durham, N.C. I cannot think of a better place to get the crap beat out of it than that town full of African-American racists and cowards. Hope those white boys from DUKE wind up owning that cesspool of a town and all the locals can get to live in the “White Mans’ town”-which they deserve.

He has 184,200 nickles a month that they won't be able to touch, guaranteeing him the means to live comfortably for the rest of his life. State pensions are a wonderful thing if you can get one.

A year ago he was going to send three innocent people to jail to win points with a voting bloc. Glad to know the intended victims and their families will be playing piggy-in-the-middle with this guy for time out of mind.

In addition, "White Duke lacrosse players are not a protected class recognized as needing protection by the government" under federal civil-rights law, lawyers for Baker and the police commanders said.

There it is. The case in a nutshell.

Well yes, but the lawyers he’s going to have to hire aren’t going to work for free. That should suck up that pension quite nicely.
