Why is it that almost every FReeper disagrees with Rush, Sean, Levin,.. that Giuliani would be a good candidate?

They've all been paid off. Elections are nothing but a big media buy.

I love first name basis. Rudy, your pall ain’t conservative. Arnold is more conservative than that RINO.

• Abortion = fails
• Immigration = fails
• Gays = fails
• Fiscal restraint = fails
• Second amendment = fails

But........ he’s the hero of 911, and would be strong on defense! Got it. Rudy is a one hit wonder, national security. His entire focus is on this singular issue because if you look anywhere else you won’t like what you see. He’s a conservative in NYC, the rest of the nation doesn’t see him as conservative.

Thompson is the best, Rudy is the worst IMO.

It’d be a helluva winning ticket.

First, Ann, long ago, condemned the idea of Rudy. Ann isn't part of this equation.

Second, Rush doesn't endorse anyone, though I think he's given up Fred for Dead and supports Romney.

Third, the talk radio guys are not going to endorse anyone (or come out too strongly against anyone) because that means they loose audience and guests. This doesn't apply to Rush because he has more money than God and a bigger audience, too. But it does apply to most all the other guys. That's why you won't hear Laura Ingraham or Hannity come out strongly against them. They will loose audience and loose those candidates as guests.

If Thompson had the P and Rudy the VP, I could live with that.
I’d pray T lives his term out and that a better R comes along to beat Rudy if he tried to run for P again.

You may have been born here on Christmas but you won’t find many FReepers who will consider your message divine.

FR is about the only place I have encountered that does not recognize conservatism’s three basic types: economic, national security, and social. Those who are not so-cons are derided as liberals no matter how conservative they are fiscally and on national security. Why this is I have no idea; so-con leaders like Tony Perkins and Gary Bauer make the distinction all the time.

Fred is conservative on all three counts which explains why so many FReepers prefer him. Rudy is conservative on two (fiscal & national security) but liberal on social issues.

I don’t know what to make of Mitt because I believe his positions are crafted to the moment. As for the perceived effort to “get him elected” I say fat chance. Here are the latest poll numbers from Hotline.

Hotline Head-to-Heads
McCain 47, Clinton 43
Clinton 49, Romney 37
Obama 41, McCain 39
Obama 56, Romney 26

Rush says Giuliani, Romney and Thompson are the "true conservatives" (Jan 11, 2008):

Drive-Bys Push McCain, Huckabee; Aim to Disqualify Fred, Mitt, Rudy

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT RUSH: Let me just tell you what's happening. It is absurd and you're going to have to really gut it up here because the Drive-By Media is doing everything it can to disqualify the true conservatives on the Republican side. They're saying, "Romney, he can't win. If he loses Michigan, he's done." They said that about Romney in Iowa, they said that about Romney in New Hampshire. Now Fred Thompson apparently scored. Did you watch it last night, Mr. Snerdley? Fred Thompson was just fabulous, and people said, "Where has this been? All of this time, where's this been?" And I can't answer that, but now the Drive-Bys are saying, "Well, yeah, he was pretty good last night, but it's too late." We've had two states! It's too late for Fred Thompson? And, of course, "Rudy, why, he's lost all of his momentum, Rudy's out of it."

So if you listen to the Drive-Bys, and these people that got it all wrong in New Hampshire, what we're being told is that the only two candidates left that have any chance whatsoever are McCain and Huckabee, which is exactly what the Drive-Bys want. They want a liberal, moderate nominee, and even a liberal, moderate vice presidential nominee because they know, or they think, that whoever the Democrat nominee is can smoke -- they don't want a conservative nominee on the Republican side. Obviously. The Drive-Bys will always tell you, folks, who is a conservative and who isn't by virtue of who they try to destroy and by virtue of who they try to prop up. And right now they're trying to prop up McCain, trying to prop up Huckabee. Last night, Thompson went after Huckabee big time, which is cool. He's gotta go after McCain, too. Now, I've been told that Thompson and McCain are good friends and that Thompson is a little bit reluctant to go after McCain. I think one of the reasons here is everybody hates Romney, apparently. A lot of these Republicans just despise Romney. They're trying to take him out so that they can move on to others.

If you go back to Iowa, somebody leaked the news, it was false, that Fred was going to get out of the race if he lost Iowa and endorse McCain. It turned out to be totally untrue. Now, who would leak that? Who would possibly leak that? Could it have been somebody in the McCain camp? And, if it was, and if Fred knows that, then they've gotta be pretty livid. Fred, if he wants to get back in this thing seriously, he's going to have to go after all these guys. I know the thinking might be, "Well, we gotta go after Huckabee first because of South Carolina and we're looking for the same voters that Huckabee is looking for there." The proclaimed front-runner, even though he's not because he doesn't have the delegate lead right now, McCain, nobody laid a glove on him last night. I think what it is with McCain is, let's be polite to the old guy, and I think it's a POW/MIA thing. I think it's the war hero thing, and that sort of provides a little boundary and a wall here that people don't want to scale. I got an e-mail from a subscriber..., "Rush, I keep hearing that Thompson was so great last night, but that he got started too late." She says, "Thompson is great. Late into the race, yeah. My husband also comes in late sometimes, and we're still married." (laughing)

There is a concerted effort by the Marxists, the liberal mainstream media to get Huckabee or McCain elected.

Ask yourself why.

The liberal mainstream media are CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, FOX, Ny times, Yahoo, AOl, Washington post and practically all the rest of the newspapers, magazines and TV and news on radio stations and their respective web sites.

The liberal media have a lot of power as they reach into everyone’s home. I hope the liberal media don’t get Huckabee elected because this Marxist pro-Amnesty socialist will destroy the United States.

Rush has all but endorsed FRed.

FRed and Duncan are the ONLY conservatives in this race.

Mitt - flip-flopper, especially on abortion.

Rudy - gun grabber, sanctuary city mayor, cross-dresser

McManiac - never met a criminal alien he didn’t like, McCain-Feingold, Gang of 14, Lindsey Graham lover.

Why doesn’t Rush say any of this about Mitt and Rudy?

I have heard Rush gush about Romney, especially after his religion speech. I heard Romney today on Hannity and Colmes say how he would go after the enviro wackos that block our oil drilling and nuclear development that are keeping our dependence on foreign oil high. This is what this country needs now, economic leadership. Abortion and immigration become irrelevant if we slip into decline. I’m for Romney.

Whatever you may think about Mitt, Fred or Rudy, it’s a 100% certainty that the political left wants as many social conservatives on the right as possible to support Huckabee and all the rest of the political right to support McCain.

I wonder why....
