Allow me to exercise a moment of nostalgia. I was 9 years old in 1953. The coronation of Elizabeth and the summit of Mt. Everest was a double feature at the movies, each allotted 1/2 hour I think. The absolute biggest news of all. To me this was the real beginning of the 50’s!
So it was: The inauguration of Eisenhower, the death of Stalin , and the end of the Korean War began the “real” 50s in the United States. They ended with the death of Kennedy in 1963. Or was it when the Beetles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show?
