The trouble is, Rush had little positive to say about Romney before that time. Rush’s commentary on Romney was scathing, at the least, after each debate. He pointed out the Liberal bent to the Governor’s answers. Then, after the sale was finalized, his tone began to change.

You forgot to mention that Rush is already rich too.

Tell us, oh wise one, what does it take?

Sorry to butt in here, but it takes votes to win the GOP primary.

I think Rush knows Thompson is done if he loses South Carolina.

...and if he is seen (without being explicit, and I can understand his position) as endorsing anyone but Thompson then that'll become a self-fulfilling prophecy. OTOH, if he is seen as supporting Thompson, then that makes it far more likely that he'll actually do well.

Lets hope we are not fooled by any-one, even Rush, who we choose to vote for in any election. God gave all brains, learn to choose for your self who most fits your requirements for the office of TPOTUS.

The GOP leadership and, the MSM will not choose whom I will be voting for but, I will be voting for whom ever the public at large chooses for their candidate, on the Republican ticket.

RUSH should do America a favor and just come out and endorse Romney and campaign for him around the country.

I SAW on the tv, Romney make the claim he would do more for homosexuals than Ted Kennedy..

Yes, that was a dumb pandering statement on Romney's part.

But take into consideration it was made in 1994 the flash moment of a debate against Ted Kennedy, who at that debate was touting HIS overwhelming support from the homo crowd.

Romney tossed out his pandering comment in an obvious attempt to attract votes.

It didn't work. The homo crowd supported Kennedy -- BIG TIME -- and Romney lost that Senate race.

When Romney was elected Massachusetts Governor 8-years later, he DIDN'T run a homo-centric administration. In fact, Romney was fairly conservative in that he supported the ProLife positions, and he supported the Defense of Marriage Amendment (which homo's HATE).

One or two pandering statements do NOT a liberal make.

Romney is a charasmatic well-spoken conservative, strong in his faith and smart as a whip.

Limbaugh can see it. I can see it. And more and more conservative Republicans across America can see it.

(Ann Coulter) has been a staunch hunter supporter (of Mitt Romney) ..... What about her? Does anybody value her opinion?

Don't you understand?

Anybody who supports Romney has been "bought off" and "duped".

Limbaugh, Coulter, and Tom Tancredo included.

Seriously, I hate to think what some on FR would say should Duncan Hunter toss his support to Romney..

Probably won't happen, but I imagine there would be some broken computer screens in FR homes if it WERE to occur.

Not an endorsement or in any way saying that I'd vote for Romney in the primary, but he did exhibit ENORMOUS restraint in that debate by not going over and slapping Teddy Kennedy silly. There is something to be said for that. Lord knows, if there is anybody on the planet that deserves to have the teeth slapped out of their mouth, it's 'ole Fat Teddy.

I know for certain that I could not have exhibited such restraint......

It suggests a new definition of Rino.

No, the new definition of "RINO" in some FR circles is .....

'anybody who doesn't agree with ME.'

Continuing to call Mitt Romney a RINO--usually with a variety of expletives preceding the word "RINO"--simply renders the word meaningless.

LOL! Ain't that the truth!

The same bunch has been calling me and anyone else who does not share their limited social views as traitors to the conservative movement.

I contend that they,a collective "they", do not have the slightest idea as to what the conservative movement is, was, and continues to be!

Single issue so-cons are not necessarily conservative as demonstrated clearly by Huckabee and his ilk in the Baptist convention, and every time I hear these attacks on Romney for some perceived lack of conservative principles, I wonder whether I should stop referring to myself as conservative, or should they.

After wondering about this for nearly 4 years now, I have determined that I should not take anyone seriously who thinks they are the true conservatives simply because they are anti-abortion and afraid of the gay impact on society. This stuff is nothing more then relatively recent social issues that everyone is concerned with to one degree or another and as been for decades, but these issues have little to do with the conservative movement and are more of a device to recruit new membership. In fact, the conservative movement places these issues into the purview of the States and not the Fed.

It's worth mentioning that this position is exactly the position of Fred Thompson, Romney and Rudy. All three ave said nearly the same words on this and yet the so called true conservative attack them. This continues unabated, and when someone like Limbaugh points out the reality of it, he too is attacked by the same people.

Very strange, very ignorant, very dangerous to the party as a whole and it has damaged it severely. This is why Rush continues to mention the word ignorance on a daily basis and calls it rightly the most dangerous of political conditions.

It suggests a new definition of Rino....always before it indicated "liberal" republicans. It now indicates otherwise principled Republicans who view electoral victory as the one issue that will override their principles.

I lived through 4 years of Carter and the result was a conservative revolution that made it possible for Ronald Reagan to become the greatest president since Washington.

I lived through 8 years of Clinton and it began the 1994 resurgence of Conservatism where we took the house and the Senate.

I can live through 4 years of Clinton or Obama if necessary, but I will not ensure that we have 16 years of RINOs and liberals by supporting a certified RINO in the next election.

We are in this for the long haul. Sometimes retreat is the best tactical manuever to win a war.

A Rudy McRomnabee presidency would be a Pyhrric victory at best.

Romney’s Bain Capital bought ClearChannel, making him Rush’s boss.

Wrong. ClearChannel does not own the Rush Limbaugh Show. Its owns the distribution rights for the show over the radio waves, which is much different. That's like saying the CEO of Wal-Mart is your boss if one of your products happens to be sold at Wal-Mart.

Clear Channel has nothing to do with RushLimbaugh.com or his newsletter. Rush is his own boss.

As more and more conservatives line up behind Mitt ....

Add to the Romney-supporting list Jay Sekulow, conservative US Sen. Jim DeMint, and a dozen others I can't remember at the moment.

The real embarrassing anti-Romney posts are the ones who 'hate' him because he is successful and has money.

They sound more like class-warfare lib-Dems than good rock-solid conservatives.

That saying about politics and strange bedfellows is as true today as ever.

Just to set the record straight, I’m a Fred head to the end. I’m hoping for a big win on Saturday. He is moving up. If the unthinkable happens and he falters and eventually drops out of the race, I’ll secretely hope for a brokered convention to get a nominee other than the ones running, but barring that I will support Romney.

First off, to my knowledge Romney no longer is the head of Bain Capital and has not been for a long time. I’m sure he still has friends there, but still...

Secondly, does anyone really think that Rush could not express his own opinions even if it was contrary to what Clear Channell wanted? What are they going to do, fire him? Does anyone really think that if Clear Channel didn’t write his paychecks that every other radio company would not be lining up to sign him to a mega deal? Clear channel holds no power over him to kowtow him to their opinions.

Any republican that thinks that Rush has been “bought off” is sounding as stupid as all of the looney lefty conspiracy theorists...

One last thing, Rush is still clearly in Fred’s corner and I think that is really the guy he’s supporting. He just does not want to come out and say it because he thinks that Fred is faltering.

Rush is taking the long view of this campaign.

He likes Fred Thompson very much and always has a kind word for him. Thompson REALLY needs to do something spectacular in South Carolina or he is going to keep the door open for McCain and Huckabee much longer than he should.

Why should anyone believe that someone who can not break through with their own supposed base would ever win a general election. I like Fred a lot, but he hasn’t even managed to fire up his base enough to pull out a win in the first 6 (I’m counting SC and Nev here) primaries/caucuses. That doesn’t seem to bode well for his ability to grab the votes necessary to win the general.

Romney seems like a pretty nice guy, and if he can beat Hillary, more power to him. He is definitely an attractive man, and Hillary has been groomed to the teeth for this campaign, the best money can buy. If Romney is the nominee, I would hope that maybe Thompson would be on the ticket as the VP. Romney/Thompson sounds okay to me. . or perhaps Thompson/Romney.
