WASHINGTON - U.S. Capitol Police arrested a man carrying a rifle outside the Capitol building Friday, authorities said.
The man was in custody and no one was injured, police spokeswoman Sgt. Kimberly Schneider.
An officer first spotted the man near Union Station, about two blocks from the Capitol. A car belonging to the suspect was being searched.

Wonder if he’s (possibly) angling for a lawsuit?...
Seriously. What if it’s someone who’s not out to harm anyone, but rather someone who very strongly believes in the “right to keep and bear arms”. And wants to take the question to the USSC?
He evidently wasn’t carrying “concealed” - he was openly carrying three weapons. He doesn’t have a handgun (which is banned in DC). Do DC laws prohibit weapons which are “concealed”?
Just a thought.
I mean it would be unusual, but the fact he was carrying openly at the one place in America he absolutely had to KNOW he would be arrested, sounds almost like he did this deliberately.

There is a gun ban in Washington D.C. That prevents creates exactly this type of crime.

Good thing he wasn’t doing something dangerous like speeding, they would have given a ride on the tazer.
I saw this story on Fox News about 12:15 and went to their www site.
They had no story then, or a few minutes ago.
All they had was a link to view the situation “live”
Their pop-ups and poor web design slowed down my computer and the video never started. Their 20+ second ad played fine!
They missed lots of hits.
I’ll look elsewhere for a news story to post after this when Fox has a news alert.

In the little town where I grew up, it was nothing to walk through town with a shotgun or rifle on our way to the woods on the edge of town. I even carried a weapon into the grocery store on my way there.

My favorite recent movie exchange, from “The Fugitive” - Harrison Ford in the storm drain, chased by Tommy Lee Jones (who looked like hell at the Spurs game the other night, BTW), yelling, “I didn’t kill my wife!” - Jones yells back, “I don’t care!” Just doin’ my job, man...

He was probably just confused. In DC, you have to take your long guns to the DC police to register. Maybe he thought they meant the Capitol police.
