That moral rationale justifies killing children of any age who can't pull their weight when hard times come.
Good point. I wonder if those who love this form of eugenics would love the Buck slight variant? In other words, if a woman comes to have three abortions she is mentally inferior and should be sterilized (like the old eugenics they would claim animal behavior and lack of control... while stating it was heredity). Maybe, like Buck, they would decide to take the mother and sister as well... would they get the point then?
Don’t people get that Hitler got some of his ideas from us (via Godwin). He read about the Buck case (when our United States had forced sterilization in 27 or 28 states), while in prison... before he became the full monster? It’s the same devil in different clothing... another branch of the same tree.
I ask that everyone takes time to watch The Bloody History of Communism on google video in three parts (long, but better than 20 odd parts on youtube). I had another link for the US, I have to find it. Meanwhile, have some quotes:
Eugenics and Other Evils
“Many people love their retrievers and their sunny dispositions around children and adults. Could people be chosen in the same way? Would it be so terrible to allow parents to at least aim for a certain type, in the same way that great breeders
try to match a breed of dog to the needs of a family?”
- Gregory Pence, Who’s Afraid of Human Cloning, 1998
Evil of Eugenics
“The marriage bed is the most degenerative influence in the social order....”
- Margaret Sanger, 1922, The Woman Rebel, Volume I, Number 1
Eugenics and Other Evils
“What is called for here is not genocide, the killing off of the population of incompetent cultures. But we do need to think realistically in terms of the ‘phasing out’ of such peoples . . . Evolutionary progress means the extinction of the less competent.”
- Richard Lynn, University of Ulster, Interview in Newsday (January 9, 1994)
Evil of Eugenics
“Some will hate it, some will love it, but biotechnology is inevitably leading to a world in which plants, animals and human beings are going to be partly man-made
.Suppose parents could add 30 points to their children’s IQ. Wouldn’t you want to do it? And if you don’t, your child will be the stupidest child in the neighborhood.”
- Lester Thurow, Creating Wealth: The New Rules for Individuals, Companies and Nations in a Knowledge-Based Economy, 1999
Eugenics and Other Evils
“Birth control itself, often denounced as a violation of natural law, is nothing more or less than the facilitation of the process of weeding out the unfit, of preventing the birth of defectives or of those who will become defectives.”
- Margaret Sanger
Chesterton had it right in the early 1900s re: Eugenics and other evils.
They have a right to choose alright, they can chose NOT to have SEX and then they won’t have to make a “decision”.
Some scary stuff has infiltrated our culture.
