No state will be required to replace state taxes with a national sales tax but they will find advantages if they do use The Fair Tax. The Fair Tax is a much broader tax base allowing states to lower their tax rates or eliminate certain tax and still collect the same amount of taxes. States will be reimbursed for collecting the Fair Tax. Administrative costs on the state level will be considerably reduced since The Treasury Department will be the collection authority.
