VP chosen by the nominee, not by the primary voters.

This Fredhead is about ready to scream! What’s up with our fellow Republicans? Huckleberry & McLaime are frickin RINO’s!

A vote for Rudy is a slap in the face to values voters. A vote for Huck will lose in November. Fred has never won a primary and is not going to. The compromise is?

My vote would be for Rudy, as you said, if McCain wins Florida this is over. At least with Rudy winning his first primary the race is still up for grabs. If that happens it is down to Rudy vs Mitt, if Mitt wins it is down to Mitt vs McCain. If you don’t want McCain, only a Rudy win in Florida does that.

Hi skully. Know how ya feel. I was Fred supporter until last night. He needs to get out now. Staying in only helps McCain. McCain had no biz winning SC. The combined votes of Huck, Thompson and Mitt gave him the victory. It’ll just keep happening like that and before ya know it McCain will win nomination. Huck will run out of evangelicals shortly leaving us McCain, Guliani and Romney. I’ll take Romney over the other two.

What to do?

If you have not done so, kick in some $$ to the Freepathon so we're still around regardless of how this mess turns out.

I know what I won't do - and that's vote for McCain. Some may say, but that means Hillary or Obama will win! Maybe it's time for conservatives to wander in the wilderness and get their bearings back. But I will not vote for a "renegade" Republican. I am a conservative that the Republican party and McCain have abandoned.

Voting for just the lesser of 2 evils, and a contest that only the Drive-bys want turns me off politically. I'm 62 years old, and this may turn into the first election where I may not show up at the polls in November.

All I’ll say is Fred is my first choice. Romney is my second. If it’s close I’d pick the one who can defeat the rest.

Sad to say but you may as well continue to support him. I don’t think its going to matter in the end anyway. The GOP has lost its mind and is fast losing its base. I’m considering supporting him but I don’t believe conservatives are welcome in the GOP anymore.

The only other candidates who seems like they can stop McCain or Huckabee is Romney or Rudy.

When you do the algebra, the answer to the equation is Romney. He is the most conservative ELECTABLE candidate in the race. He is the only one who can defeat Giuliani and McCain. No, he doesn't have a perfect conservative record, but you take what you can get and run with it. I hope that Free Republic can do some quick maturing and come to that realization too as time is VERY short and we ALL need to get behind Romney or we'll end up with either Giuliani or McCain and I don't think there's very many of us who can support either of them.

I am not giving up on Fred because this race is still wide open. All the folks who thing Rudy has Florida in his pocket might just be wrong. I have also heard on various thareads that 40% have already voted in Florida. 40% of all voters means nothing to me right now. If they said 40% of Republican voters, that would mean something. In all of the calling I have done to absentee Registered Republicans, none of the folks told me they had already voted. All said they were looking at the candidates and had not decided yet. They all showed interest in Fred and some did say they liked Fred. I know that McCain and Huckabee will fade soon and I see the chance for Fred to make another surge after the debate from Palm BEach this coming Thursday. I am with Fred through Super Tuesday if he is still fighting!

Part of me wants the dems to win this one. I fear the economy is in for a rough ride, and if we have a RINO president pursuing liberal policies, it will only harm true conservatism, which appears to be nearly dead. As much as I fear a Hillary presidency, I try to remember that it took a Jimmy Carter to get us a Ronald Reagan.

Why don’t you do what I did? I looked for the very best person who shared my conservative values and voted for him. A lot can happen in the next ten months. If Fred isn’t there at the end then I will vote for anyone but a democrat and just hold my nose. ;-)
