how can you be a republican nominee without having the south? without the south, the republican base, there is nothing in the general election...romney can’t expect to win michigan again.
If the nominee is Mitt he’s probably toast in the general. He might pick a southern running mate to shore up the old Confederacy, but that would just demonstrate how weak he is by defending territory that should already be safe.
By putting Hillary or Obama on the opposition ticket. Much of the old media sure is “worried” that Romney can’t win...
“romney cant expect to win michigan again.”
W almost won Michigan in 2004, so Mitt would be a favorite to do so in 2008.
And who’s the South going to vote for in 2008? Hillary? It wouldn’t surprise me. If Mitt is the nominee, Hillary will declare that she is a “Christian leader”. Why not?
The South has changed in the last 8 years IMHO.
Many people don’t even consider Florida the South any longer.
Don’t count Romney out in the remaining Southeastern states.
I believe Independents can’t vote in the remaining states and this will show how strong McCain can be in the remaining primaries without Democratic “independents” or true independents.
South is overrated. The Republicans better start concentrating on the west or we will never win an election again. Start getting the northeast back again would not be bad either.
