Pro-Clinton union members handing out T-shirts as Strip workers gather to caucus
By Charlotte Hsu · January 19, 2008 · 11:26 AM
Members of the pro-Hillary Clinton AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees), walking into the lionâs den, are handing out Clinton t-shirts outside a Paris Las Vegas ballroom as Strip workers are gathering to caucus in a few minutes.
The AFSME members were not hesitant in identifying themselves to me as they handed out white T-shirts, clearly intended to be be worn by Culinary workers who are prepared to break ranks with the unionâs endorsement of Barack Obama.
The T-shirts read, in bold red, capital letters: âI support my union, I support Hillary Clinton.â
I am not certain that the tipping point you describe, is not here even now.
We shall see.
Obama’s people should have handed out this t-shirt:

It’s true, the mainstream media sometimes will ignore facts because they dont want to admit something that is politically incorrect.
But I would guess it is not just that many Hispanics are not comfortable with a Black guy, it is also that the Culinary Union tried to strong-arm them into voting for Obama.
I am anything but a fan of Hillary, but if this was a rebellion against being told who to vote for, then there is something positive about this vote. People actually demanding freedom to vote for who they want.
Any reports on how many of these Culinary Caucus Goers were actually Illegal Aliens?
I don’t think they will. Democrats as a whole want to win really bad. I just wish the Republicans would feel the same way. I just get this feeling of ambivalence with Election 2008.
Interesting question. On the news they reported that voters did NOT ned proof they are citizens! They only need to sign an affidavit saying they are. Supposedly there is a fine if you get caught lying, but do you honestly believe there will be a large follow-up?
I can’t believe people are not required to show photo ID’s and proof of citizenship to vote!

Amen. I bailed out of that state three years ago - it was starting to feel like California (bailed out of there in '88).
I tried to buy some surplus military rifles in Prescott, AZ and was told, "Oh, you're from Clark Couty. We won't sell you these guns." "Why?" "We have to clear every firearms sale with the Las Vegas police department and we don't want to go through the hassle."
I also understand that county residents had to register their handguns with the Vegas police.
Our town badly needed a new library and voted for a bond issue. Since it was a county-wide election, Vegas residents overrode our vote. But, any crackpot money-wasting bill that Vegas wanted, Vegas got. Literally the 800-lb gorilla.
The 2008 dynamic appears to be rather predictable from this point forward.
Hillary has lost the gambit.
Obama will consolidate the votes of the left, black and moderate whites.
Hillary and the old guard Democratic establishment along with the Hispanic voters will slash-and-burn from here in.
Hillary will lose.
A cursory reading of the posts on Obama’s speech last night will dissuade you of any lingering doubts. These were Freepers not a random sample.
To say that many were enchanted by the young Mr. Obama and family is perhaps an overstatement - but not by much.
And so it goes... (I believe Linda is long gone)
The first Mormon vs/ the first black candidate.
It almost gives you hope that the campaign could be dignified and enlightened - two descent men vying for a very tough job.
While on the tabloid news the disintegration of the Clinton Criminal Empire brings out the very long knives.
We are digging out from a morning blizzard and I am late for my Bloody Mary and Buffet.
