“Romney is the most conservative of the 4 who have a chance.”

Romney’s talks like a Conservative, but walks like a Liberal.

OTOH, McCain talks like a liberal, for the most part. If that doesent disqualify you, what does? ..Romney is imperfect, but Im hoping he choose well for VP, if he gets that far

Politicians are a product of their environment, for the most part. They try to position themselves so that they are as close to the middle of their constituency as they can be, without violating their own principles. That’s why I give Romney a pass on some of his positions as governor of MA. It’s also why I give Giuliani a pass on some of his positions as mayor of NY.

McCain has no excuse. Huckabee has no excuse. Both of those guys are from very conservative states, yet they pursue very liberal policies. That tells me that they are really libs, while the “real” Romney might very well be a conservative.

Since there is no clearly authentic conservative in this race, I’m betting on the horse I think might most likely turn out to be a conservative... And that is Romney. At least he talks like a conservative, and has a plausible excuse for what I consider to be an overly liberal record—unlike his opponents.

Romney made some dumb pandering PC statements while running for US Senate against uber-lib Teddy Kennedy in 1994/1994.

But as Governor of Mass, his record was fairly conservative — both in record and rhetoric.

He got a B+ or A- from the NRA, I believe.

And good marks from ProLife groups, including the National ProLife. For example:

- Governor Romney Vetoed Legislation That Would Have Provided For The “Morning After Pill” Without A Prescription. (Governor Mitt Romney, Op-Ed, “Why I Vetoed The Contraception Bill,” The Boston Globe, 7/26/05)

- Governor Romney Promoted Abstinence Education In The Classroom. (Office Of Governor Mitt Romney, “Romney Announces Award Of Abstinence Education Contract,” Press Release, 4/20/06)

- Governor Romney Vetoed Legislation That Would Have Changed The Longstanding Definition Of The Beginning Of Human Life From Fertilization To Implantation. (Governor Mitt Romney, Letter To The Massachusetts State Senate And House Of Representatives, 5/12/05)

- Governor Romney Supports Parental Notification Laws And Opposed Efforts To Weaken Parental Involvement. (John McElhenny, “O’Brien And Romney Spar In Last Debate Before Election,” The Associated Press, 10/29/02)

- Governor Romney Supports Adult Stem Cell Research But Has Opposed Efforts To Advance Embryo-Destructive Research In Massachusetts. (Theo Emery, “Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney Vetoes Stem Cell Bill,” The Associated Press, 5/27/05)

...but walks like a Liberal.

Can you please outline the 'liberal' laws or legislation which Romney passed.

Not statements he might have made during a campaign, but legislation.

Romney’s talks like a Conservative, but walks like a Liberal.

Besides, it is McCain who better fits that statement.

McCain would close down Gitmo. McCain would end waterboarding.

McCain would give Democrats power to squash conservative judges for US Supreme Court.

McCain would open our borders to millions of NEW illegal immigrants.

THAT sounds like a liberal to me.

Romney's record, in fact, is fairly conservative -- despite his 15-year old dumb pandering statments which the Romney haters have repeated over and over and over -- ad naseum.
