Some years ago, I was a movie reviewer. I started out at UCLA, reviewing for the Daily Bruin, and then moved on to be the first critic for Los Angeles magazine. All told, I stuck it out for about a dozen years.
What I didnt realize at the time was that, all in all, I had had it pretty good. But it took seeing a rash of movies recently to drive that point home. At least back then, the inflated egos of the director and the star didnt make it inevitable that every movie would run well over two hours. [more@ExileStreet]

My DVD recorder records two hours on a disk. After that, the quality drops way down to fit the two hours on.
I also remember when a good song was only about a minute long. Remember all the Beatle songs on their first album? A song more than three minutes was really, really long.
Y'know, those memorable movie moments from the silents, the Golden Age, today's few great directors......y'know, when movies were movies and not sociological sitcoms.

...it appears that he cant afford anything but 20 watt bulbs.
It must be that “going green” thing. Also in the article he mentions Daniel Day Lewis as an Oscar contender for this latest movie. I think he should have got his Oscar a long time ago for his performance in “My Left Foot”. His acting in that movie was truly fantastic!
