The Saudis and Syrians have revealed no real interest in normalizing relations with Israel. I think the talk of tolerating Arabic Jews (sans Israel) would be the closest thing to an honest, moderate point of view in those countries. An unrealistic one at that, if history is instructive.I think people underestimate just how much Iran is scaring the arab states in the ME now. Iran was quieter when it had to worry about Iraq, now it's expanding its influence and quickly. The Saudis and the Syrians are desperate to come out on the winning side of this.
I don’t see how that fear would translate into lasting normalized relations with Israel. At best, Israel might eviscerate itself to gain a brief time of mock stability and acceptance. Eventually, though, the fear of Iran will pass, but the desire to remove the Jewish state will not cease. The trillions of dollars of oil wealth of the Saudis et al translate into real power. With that comes the reasonable expectation that their desires will be fulfilled.
