I think those are more equine than bunny. IOW, that's an ass, a common mode of transportation in those parts. Jesus rode one on his entry into Jeruselem, IIRC.

One variety that is native to area is the Onager, aka Asian Wild Ass. However they are said to be notoriously untrainable, even for asses, so that is unlikely to be one of those. (The reason I know about the Onager, is that long ago in a reliability prediction document, I think it was for either the AWACS or a B-52 subsystem, the engineer wrote of an onager heuristic estimate. I reviewed that document as an AF Lt. and had to look up onager. Wild Ass, and a heuristic estimate is a really a guess (although usually and educated one based on some criteria) thus an onager heuristic estimate is a "wild ass guess". I got a good laugh over that, and we all gave the writer credit for big brass ones to put that in a formal report to the government. :) )
