I did say he would endorse Huckabee.
I originally thought he would stay in until the convention, and endorse him there, but once he dropped out, the time and place obviously changed to the more immediate present.

I never pointed out Hunter’s inevitable endorsement of Huckabee to “smear” him as many Hunterites such as yourself accused me of. I did it only because it became patently obvious to me that such handwriting was on the wall, and I wanted to give all you Hunterites fair warning of what was sure to come down the pike sooner or later. Hunter was always a lot closer to Huckabee than he was to Thompson, just you guys didn’t want to face that reality.

But now that Hunter has made that fact undeniable, and sold out every last one of you that was supporting him, don’t you think you should change your tagline?

After endorsing Huckabee, I believe he is no longer worthy of the title of “statesman”.
