Iran confident of no attack, can survive sanctions

TEHRAN (Reuters) - Iran feels it has done enough to avert an imminent U.S. attack and is confident its cushion of petrodollars will help it weather the impact of a third round of mild sanctions, Iranian analysts and politicians say.

Iranian leaders have vowed to press on with Tehran's disputed nuclear work regardless of new U.N. sanctions, after world powers this week agreed the outline of a new resolution.

The steps were far weaker than U.S. officials had previously pushed for after Russian and Chinese reservations became more pronounced following a U.S. intelligence report which said Tehran has halted a nuclear weapons program in 2003.

Both analysts and politicians said the Islamic Republic, which has faced U.S. sanctions for years, had learned to live with such penalties and now had a windfall of oil revenue to cope with any extra losses created by the measures.

China has become a major importer of Iranian oil — China has a Security Council veto — and China is in the position to sink the US economy if it releases its reserves of US dollars onto the open market.

China is in charge here -— there will be no attack on Iran.

Iran has done nothing compared to our gutless Intelligence community. You know, the people who gave us 9/11.

That's one scary statement... what about US sinking China's economy, is it possible?

Not as long as people keep buying everything from China.

A better headline (though rather long) would be:

GUTLESS TREASONOUS DISHONEST WEASELS IN CIA AND STATE, DEMAGOGIC PARTY, RINOS, AND EURO-TWIT SOCIALISTS HAVE GIVEN IRAN CONFIDENCE THAT IT NEED NOT WORRY ABOUT SERIOUS ACTION FROM THE WEST

Me too.

It is clear Iran is going to get its nukes for sometime now.

Somebody is going to eventually pay in blood as a result.

Too bad the world couldn’t be bothered.

It is kind of ironic, the world has been screaming “No blood for oil”... But that is exactly what this is. Oil now, blood later...

Not really.

China would destroy itself in the process.

“Iran feels it has done enough to avert an imminent U.S. attack ...”

The best kind of enemy to have. A clueless one. We have positioned ourselves well in the case we ever muster the stones to act on it.

It's very difficult not to buy anything from China, but I'm talking about people who just don't even bother to try buying from elsewhere. Worse yet is that they haven't been deterred by Chinese products poisoning us and our pets. Instead of changing their buying habits, they call out for another government program to protect them. It's positively enraging that people do not understand in the least how the free market works.

Of course, it has not escaped the notice of the Chicoms favorite candidate that people are calling for government to protect them from unsafe imported products. She has pledged to create such a program for toys with other products to follow, no doubt. The official Chicom reaction was outrage, but they know a buying opportunity when they see one. Just imagine the bribes that will flow from Beijing to the White House for preferential treatment.

Yeah, right. We are scared to death of it's supersonic torpedos, stealth aircraft, ICBMs, and whatever else amanutjob claims.

Meanwhile, the UN takes months to decide to further sanction Iran by farting in their general direction twice a month instead of just once a month.

Good point, but the reverse is also true. If we stopped buying cheap goods from China their economy would also be sunk. Would never happen I know, but its still a valid point.

Umm, don’t be so sure. In my humble opinion the Israeli’s will never allow Iran to develop a nuke. If or when the the Iranians should get close to having one, along with a delivery system, rest assure the Israelis will launch an air strike. The U.S. will not visibly take part in this strike but rest assured we will be participants behind the scene with satellite intelligence and any other support as needed.

So true... IMO, the current Chinese surge in the world economy is more like a military strategy than a mere commercial endeavor. People, particularly Americans should become more patriotic on this aspect. Sometimes, due to the obvious convenience the modern world is enjoying nowadays, (NO Major Conflicts so far) they seem to forget one of the basic aspects of human character - Desire To Dominate, whatever it takes.

I do hope though that the American government and it's allies will be able to minimize Chinese economic influence which could be an effective tool for their military ambitions directed towards compromising the interests of the freedom loving nations of the world.

Don't be too sure of that. If China does that, then China's economy will be destroyed.
