Anti-Bush Campaign Planned

Liberal Group Plans Yearlong Anti-Bush Campaign; Goal Is To Deny Positive Legacy.

A liberal advocacy group plans to spend $8.5 million in a drive to make sure President Bush's public approval doesn't improve as his days in the White House come to an end.

Americans United for Change plans to undertake a yearlong campaign, spending the bulk of the money on advertising...

In selling the plan to fundraisers, the group has argued that support for President Reagan was at a low of 42 percent in 1987 but climbed to 63 percent before he left office.

"All of a sudden he became a rallying cry for conservatives and their ideology," said Brad Woodhouse, president of the group. "Progressives are still living with that."

The group is a nonprofit corporation that made a splash by airing ads against Bush's plans to overhaul Social Security in 2005. The group has conducted polls and focus groups and is now raising money for their anti-Bush effort. It gave a Power Point presentation to representatives of about 30 liberal and labor organizations last week.

It plans to announce the campaign at a press conference Thursday afternoon during a forum featuring liberal critics of the administration. It also aims to air its first ad in advance of Bush's State of the Union speech on Monday.

Woodhouse said one goal is to make sure Bush does not enjoy a resurgence in public approval toward the end of his presidency that could help Republican congressional candidates and the Republican presidential nominee in this year's elections.

"Framing his legacy helps us in the '08 elections..."

I’m sorta pleased that the BDS left would waste their (... emphasis on “their”) money on this.

Again, one of the things I like most about the President is his ability to make leftists so angry that they become unhinged.

He has a year for the economy to improve (which it will) and for Iraq to be declared a success (which will happen). Do you remember the empty feeling you had when you saw Ronald Reagan leaving office on his final day? You are going to feel that again on January 20, 2009 (Especially if Hillary is sworn in).

Sounds like some folks are very worried about legacy. It won’t matter, Bush’s legacy won’t be fairly written for at least 30 - 40 years.

8.5 million, how many people could they shelter or feed with that money what a waste, it shows the true intent of their hearts.

Kind of exposes their hypocrisy, doesn't it?

The group is a nonprofit corporation

How on earth do they get away with that? Nonprofits are not permitted to do political advocacy. If they were conservatives, the IRS would have taken away their nonprofit status in a nanosecond.

“Planned? This crap has been ongoing for 7 plus years now.”

Your statement is so very true and the frustration is our side does not have an ongoing team in place to counter this crap. It seems conservatives have no leader, no plan, no strategy. Tell me where I’m wrong?
