You honestly think that people who posted on this thread care more about a few trees than human life. To make that comparison is pathetic and quite possibly one the most ridiculous posts I've seen on FR.

Quite frankly, Ponderosa Pines are worthless trees as far as sustaining a clean environment and contributing to clean air is concerned; however, at 7,000’ altitude, not much of anything will grow that will act as a net CO2 sink so they are not making a problem on their own
I have a big problem with the federal government owning and controlling all the property not tied up in residences or farms which is where we are headed with trusts, wetlands regulations, forest management, etc.
As DoughtyOne says, the allowed punishment is absurdly excessive, enforce the law as it stands, make equitable recompense and then brush up on the civics lessons and participate in the legislative process.
