My suburb was redistricted into Dennis’s district after the 2000 census. For the first time since he was elected, Dennis has some serious opposition in the Dem primary. He’s been catching some heat in the local media for his presidential campaign travels and neglecting his district. But his four opponents will likely only split the anti-Dennis vote in the primary, unless they are able to coalesce around a single challenger.

Thank God he dropped out! He would have stomped the other three Democrat candidates and our candidates and won! Not. He wasn’t even worth a distraction.

wow that means hes more rational than Ron Paul It just means Ron Paul has more money. Oh Dennis the menace is in a Gerrymandered District. It is a 70 to 30 Democrat district. Dennis could kill babies and rape Nuns and still get reelected.
Ohio is a very even state. There are as many Democrats as there are Republicans. Look at the 2004 election returns.
When Republicans redistricted the state in 1990 and again in 2000 they drew 6 districts where the Democrats are 70 percent of the voters. The remaining 12 districts were drawn so Republians are 54 percent of the voters. So in a normal year Republicans should win 12 seats to the Democrats 6.
They put as many Democrats as possible in a few districts and spread the Republicans out over as many of the remaining districts as possible. It is the way to win a majority of seats in an evenly divided state.
