over 40% of voters have already voted...There should be some type of absentee check-valve whereby if the person you voted for by absentee ballot has dropped off.... you could withdraw your ballot and then vote in person at a voting booth.
Otherwise, these primaries are somewhat misleading if not flat out wrong.
I don't necessarily disagree with you, but any informed voter should realize in the primaries how quickly things could change. Like for instance Fred voters, if they were so strong in their beliefs that they wanted to vote for him, they also should have realized the peril of voting for someone that might not be in the race by the time the votes were counted.
I guess it is just a case of buyer beware.
