Belarus has dismissed as laughable a report by the defense journal Jane's that it wanted to sell Iran two missile systems for USD140m.
This is untrue. Such information can only induce laughter. There are no grounds for the story and no grounds for any sale, said a spokesman for Belarus' security council on Friday.
Jane's on Thursday alleged that Belarus was in the final stages of negotiations with Tehran over the sale of Soviet-era S-300PT air defense systems.
The S-300PT was one of the first modified versions of an air defense system first developed in the Soviet Union in 1978.
The modified system, completed in the 1980s, is used by three air defense brigades in the country wedged between Russia and three European Union countries.
Last month, Moscow denied statements that it intended to supply an S-300 anti-aircraft missile system to Iran.

Jane's is very reliable. They're saying:"Tehran is actually in the final stage of negotiations with Belarus for the acquisition of two surplus trailer-mounted towed S-300PT (SA-10A 'Grumble') systems."
"deployed near Minsk as part of Belarus's operational air-defence configuration"
"the inflated price reflects an awareness of Iran's urgent requirement for such systems"
Gee, Iran, why the panic? Can't get Moscow to sell you the S-300 low-to-high altitude air-defence systems you asked Santa for?
This is untrue. Such information can only induce laughter. There are no grounds for the story and no grounds for any sale,
American imperialist dogs will shudder at such display of advanced Soviet technology! da! :-P
I guess the Syrian raid shook them up.
Belarus is a front for Russia.
