I’m afraid the party’s slide started about the time it became obvious Newt couldn’t control his weenie. And with McCain’s win it looks like freefall now.

Demographic shifts brought by decades of wide-open third-world immigration are putting power out of reach for conservatives. And after Hillary or McCadaver put the migration rate onto warp speed it’ll be a done deal. Permanent left-of-center politics. Adios America.

QUESTION: If Sen. John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, how can he be president? Article II of the Constitution says “No person except a natural born citizen . . . shall be eligible to the office of President.”

ANSWER: Are you looking for a drama that would rival the 2000 election controversy? When McCain was born, in 1936, the canal zone was a U.S. territory. He was born on an Air Force base, to U.S. citizens.

Congress passed legislation in 1790 stating that children of U.S. citizens born outside the U.S. shall be considered natural born. (George Romney, presidential candidate and father of candidate Mitt Romney, was born in Mexico to U.S. citizens.) The Supreme Court has not had the opportunity to rule whether that legislation is constitutional. The Court has held that children born in the United States to non-citizens are natural born citizens. No one has seriously considered challenging McCain’s eligibility, and I doubt even a legitimate court battle would progress very far.

One is not considered a natural born citizen if born outside the United States, to non-citizens, and who later go through the naturalization process to become citizens. An example is California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

The Fourteenth Amendment states ... “all persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States.” The United States includes its territories. (Presidential candidate Barry Goldwater was born in Arizona, when it was a territory and not yet a state.) McCain was not naturalized, so he must fit the other definition, “born.” Those would be my arguments.

McCain often stood with Dems in the Senate. Crist has referred to Wexler(Dem-FL) as a good friend; Martinez takes the same stance on immigration as Mc Cain. Birds of a feather.......RINO’s all.

Thompson and Hunter marginalized themselves. They operated poorly executed campaigns. Period.

I think there is a lot of truth in that and I'm a Fredhead. For my part I believed in what he was standing for so I overlooked his campaign style and hoped everyone else would too...but that's another story.

One of the problems is that people just didn't care about his message...I think the majority of Republican's aren't that much different from Democrats anymore - they want government to solve their problems. Plus, people have very short memories...9/11 and the threat of being blown up at work is fading into the mist as an issue.

And of course the media didn't want anything to do with Fred (and vice versa) or Duncan.

Mitt's my last hope. If he doesn't win I'm thinking that Argentina would be a nice place to hide out.

Given the low dem turnout and extremely high “republican” turnout, I think you are right. The dems have purposely screwed with the pubbie primary.

Now the MSM will cinch the deal by touting McLame’s “great victory” for a week before Super Tuesday.

This stinks to high hell.

If it is Romney vs. Obama, Obama probably takes it. It is almost certainly going to be Omaba, not Hillary. If it is McCain vs. Obama, I don't know. Probably can't turn out the base too well. On the other hand, you couldn't get a starker contrast on the war. If foreign crisis stuff seriously heats up September or so...

sorry but the party destroyed itself. they got away from thier principles. main one fiscal conservatism, saw no difference in many of them then I did in dems. Mccain is the real conservative
