I heard on a radio show (can’t remmeber which one) of a handicapped guy who did something like that...went around and found businesses who weren’t in compliance and sued for discrimination under the americans with disabilites act. Some of the places he didn’t even go into. Just wrote down addresses and such.... Made a ton of money doing it too...!
It was a scam set up by a Law Firm.
We had one of those in our town. The mom enrolled her handicapped child in our local preschool which didn’t have an ADA conforming wheelchair ramp. The preschool welcomed the child and was able to assure the parents that the child would be able to come and go with the assistance of the teachers. The parents sued, forced our preschool to build the ramp, and then took their kid to another school. I honestly don’t think the ramp has ever been used in the 15 years since it was built.
