Praise Mukasey And Pass The FISA

Security: Democrats ran Alberto Gonzales out of town, thinking the new AG would be easier to bully. But Michael Mukasey is disappointing them. Instead of harassing him, they should reauthorize the vital FISA law.

Terrorist networks stretching from the Arab world and Europe to the Americas and the Pacific may still be thirsty for American blood, but it didn't stop Democratic senators from turning Attorney General Mukasey's testimony Wednesday into a televised game of "gotcha."

Appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee, the country's chief law enforcement officer was not asked what Congress could do to help the U.S. government catch or kill more jihadists, or more effectively prevent future terrorist attacks on the homeland or on U.S. personnel and interests abroad.

Rather, with the clock ticking on expiration of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA), Democrats squandered the Senate's precious little time trying to make Mukasey an unwitting ally in their efforts to pronounce President Bush a war criminal.

Mukasey is worth twenty Alberto Gonzaleses. So far, he’s been one of Bush’s strongest appointments!

Ashcroft was a good man, but he didn’t do a very good job as AG. He kept backing down and recusing himself on significant issues, giving the Dems a chance to get their way. For instance, he recused himself and let a clintonoid stooge pick Fitzgerald as special prosecutor in the Plame case.

No, Ashcroft was bound by the Constitution. Perfect no , but one of the best .

What do you think about when Gonzales went to Ashcroft’s potential deathbed to try to pressure him when he was ill ?
Ashcroft even when ill, defended the Constitution .

Ashcroft also affirmed the true meaning of the Second Amendment .

Ashcroft is a shining example of how an AG should behave .

Gonzales was the exact opposite .
Mukasey is following the Gonzales path .

From a constitutional perspective, I don’t think I would be too eager to hand President Clinton those powers.

I continue to be amazed that Senator Kennedy is allowed to ask people about “waterboarding.”

Is there no one with the stones to take the irony bull by the horns?

Well, I agree with you about Gonzalez. I don’t know what you have against Mukasey.
