“That’s if we actually have elections in 2012!”

People said the same thing about 2000. Liberals said the same thing about Bush in 2008. That ain’t gonna happen.

Time is growing short to stop McCain.

I will not vote for McCain in the primary. And, since I live in Illinois, it makes no difference who I vote for in the general election, because Illinois will go to whomever the Dim candidate is. No Republican candidate stands any chance whatsoever of carrying Illinois in November.

I think it was McCain who hung up without so much as a parting word — rather than Mike’s having cut him off.

Glad you posted that...i heard it also....McCain hung up.

I guess the reason I remember that call so well is that before McCain picked up the phone, Michael Reagan was really trying to be fair in understanding McCain’s positions.

Mike clearly gave the impression that he was open to the possibility of supporting McCain. But once the conversation began, McCain almost immediately exploded into a mean spirited tirade without giving Mike a chance to begin a good faith dialogue.

No way, because McCain would be 77 or 78 during the 2012 election!

McCain is the epitome of that liberal movie ... angry white guy... or something like that title. Silly McCain indebted to the Clintons and they are going to chew him up and spit him out.

> Bull Moose Party - Republican Teddy Roosevelt walked out of the Republican convention with his delegates. <

And it’s of no small interest that McCain has often cited TR as one of his personal heroes!

(TR was hated and feared by many members of the 19th century’s GOP establishment. He was too much of a populist and an economic heretic for their tastes. There’s a theory that some of these establishment types had arranged for him to be McKinley’s Veep in order to esmasculate TR as a political force. Lot’s of good that did!)

I have the audio. The phone connection starts going bad and John McCain still keeps talking because he’s so adamant. I firmly believe it was a lost connection. Then Michael Reagan says, “Senator McCain, goodbye.” twice (I believe to be somewhat proper.)

Sorry if my words suggested I disagree. I’m totally with you on this point.

(A recording of the call was posted yesterday, via a link to YouTube. I didn’t listen, however, because my blood might exceed the boiling point!)

I think it will happen in reverse if it does. The establihment is pushing the wrong way against the party base.

There will also be huge losses in both house if this occurs.

That’s a reasonable interpretation, and I can respect your opinion.

But in any event, it doesn’t seem that McCain’s handlers went to the trouble to re-establish the connection or to have their candidate apologize. By failing to do either of the latter, they certainly missed a chance to have a constructive dialogue with Mike Reagan — who, as I said before, seemed intially to be very fair-minded in his approach to McCain.

As I further recall, the other Mike (Gallagher) played a recording of this call the next morning on his show and apparently had the same impression as did I, namely that McCain had been extremely rude — maybe even suffering from serious emotional instability.

Indeed. Michael Reagan was very fair and was doing his job about asking McCain about the issues, and he was respectful. All John McCain wanted to do was to discuss the stuff going on in South Carolina, which he was very bitter about. Hint, folks, when McCain says, “Let me tell you, let me tell you” to Michael Reagan. By the way, I am listening to Hugh Hewitt’s podcast, and Hugh said that Michael Reagan endorsed Mr. Romney. I’ll have to listen to Michael Reagan’s show.

Maybe Henry Waxmen will call for investigations of the Keating 5?
