The urban area grants are one of the department's most popular and most intensely debated programs. The department divides the regions at highest risk of a terrorist attack into two tiers. The seven highest-risk areas including Los Angeles, New York and Washington will be competing for about $430 million this year. The remaining 53 will compete for about $352 million. The department plans to release the list Friday.

I could go for a couple million to upgrade the bunker. I would think the bay area is high-risk .. try driving around here sometime
>>>$12 billion for border security and immigration enforcement, a 19 percent increase over what Congress appropriated for these programs in 2008. This money would go toward building a fence
The Alaska Pipeline is 800 miles long, took 3 years to build (plus two prior years for planning and 3,500 permits), and cost about $30 billion in 2006 adjusted dollars.
“$12 billion for border security and immigration enforcement” ain’t even close to doing the job.
Anyone seen any news footage on the “progress” of the fence in, say, the last six months or even the last year? Strange, the Pipeline was a regular news item back in its day.
And who exactly is “building” the fence? Seems like it would generate a big labor boom in the southwest. Anyone seeing that? Welders? Equipment operators? Truck drivers? Laborers? Anything?
First we have The Bridge To Nowhere. Now we have The Fence Built By No One.
Bush will also ask for more than $12 billion for border security and immigration enforcementSorry but there' no longer any reason to trust him...I'll have to see his definition of "immigration enforcement" before I fall for that one...again.
