Chelsea visited the troops in Iraq and complimented a Navy seal on their bravery. She asked “you guys are so brave, is there anything that scares you?”
The Navy seal replied “Yup. Three things- Osama, Obama, and yo Mama”.

I think this issue does mean something. If you’re running as a hawk in the hawk party and you and all your sons have avoided the military while your opponent (also a hawk) and one of his sons has served (or is serving) and our nation is at war, perhaps one of the most dangerous wars in our history, then this issue does mean something.

Does that mean I’d rather have McCain as president over Romney? No. Go back and read all my posts. When Fred dropped out I switched to Romney. I’ve been a McCain-basher since 2001 when I signed up on FR (and before that on other forums).

But does this issue of military service mean something? Yes, it does. And if you think it doesn’t, then prepare to continue to be surprised by voting patterns in America.

We should elect McCain because his 18 year old son joined the Marines?

Obama will give you plenty of health mandates. He is a real socialist. We already have socialized medicine mandated by courts. Free care is mandated at emergency rooms for people who cannot pay. Romney at least tried to spread the risk so we would have some emergency rooms left open. We all pay for court ordered free care in our insurance premiums. We either impeach judges (not happening) or we figure a way to spread the risk.

Let say this idiot McCAin is elected. Just how long would the son of a sitting president be allowed to stay in the marines? Just imagine the calls of favoritism.

Obama, the most liberal Senator, will do worse than mandates. Washington will run health care. Worst case scenario. Obama is a naive liberal who would do untold damage to our country.

EMTALA is not judicial activism; it's a law that was passed by Congress and signed by President Reagan.

All four of FDRs sons were military officers in WWII.

The ballot laws have high barriers against the establishment of third parties in several states. Furthermore, there are legal provisions in several states preventing sore losers from running after defeat in primaries would preclude another Bull Moose Party from arising. Furthermore, who among the candidates has the stature of Teddy Roosevelt? Romney, Thompson, Huckabee, Paul, Hunter, Tancredo, and Keyes certainly do not fit the bill. Neither does Bloomberg.

well the last thing we want is a republican to get the ball rolling on universal health insurance because the dems will really run with it and we will never get a hold on entitlements.

I wonder if McCain has angry outbursts at home, too.

Heck yes he does. I bet that his kids are glad they don’t have to take the abuse while he is on the campaign trail. They probably wished the campaign went on forever. I have no doubt that they love their dad, but somebody who yell and screams at them all day cannot be fun.

Duncan Hunter's son has served in Afghanistan AND Iraq....

Bet you didn't know this....cause the MSM and FOX wouldn't mention it.

Duncan Hunter served in Viet Nam.
Betcha didn't know this either.

I mention it because Duncan Hunter is not defunct.

He is helping Huckabee's campaign now, and because I believe in Hunter's integrity, I also believe it noteworthy to take a second look at Huckabee.

McCain won in FL because of independents (17% of primary voters) and latinos. I don’t think there two groups are very pro-military. Probably amnesty is more important to them.

Anyway, this is total BS. Why is Romney is the only candidate who is asked this? Fred Thompson had two sons, but he was never asked this. I think Huckabee has also two sons, but he is not asked about it, either.

If military background is the requirement, were you happy with Jimmy Carter and war hero Bon Dole?
