WASHINGTON U.S. Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., says the City of Berkeley, Calif., no longer deserves federal money. DeMint was angered after learning that the Berkeley City Council voted this week to tell the U.S. Marine Corps to remove its recruiting station from the city's downtown.
"This is a slap in the face to all brave service men and women and their families," DeMint said in a prepared statement. "The First Amendment gives the City of Berkeley the right to be idiotic, but from now on they should do it with their own money."

The council also voted to give the antiwar group Code Pink a parking space in front of the recruiting office once a week for six months, as well as a protest permit. ,p>
What a petty bunch of disgusting little children.
Let’s hope that DeMint gets his way. These people need to be taught a serious lesson.
Thank you, Senator!
Sure now. And this will be happening when pigs fly.
Demint was a strong supporter in the Clinton impeachment process. He is a good guy.
Hooray Senator DeMint! America’s finest supported by Senator DeMint.
Could this DeMint guy just be a faking flip-flopper? He endorsed Romney, after all... and looking back at his record in the 90’s, he was in favor of federal funding for Berkeley!
Ditto that, but I doubt if it happens.
I have a dream.

DRAFT DeMint!
Wonder what would happen if we as a group would petition for the same parking space in front of the recruiting office, under the same conditions...once a week for the next six months and a protest permit to counter-protest Code Pink. Would they give it to us? and if they did not would that be discrimination?
Liberalism is a disease.
I’ve always said that I would vote for Rice with DeMint!
Yes it would be.
I heartily endorse the Senator’s plan.
