“If there’s a senator from South Carolina that wants to take healthy food away from the children of Berkeley because the City Council has an issue with the military recruiting downtown, I just think that’s absurd,” said Ann Cooper, director of nutrition services for the district. “We’re in the throes of a health crisis (because of childhood obesity), and Berkeley is one of the very few cities in America that’s actually really working on children’s health through school food. Why anyone would want to take away healthy food away from children is just beyond me.”

I was under the impression that Berkeley was fairly well off, and was not in the grips of a famine. If they want healthy foods, it is local, not a Federal responsibility, if it is a governmental responsibility at all.

“Please go to the link and sign the petition. “

Done, and to the people in Berkely, CA who subscribe to bad-mouthing the beloved Corps, “Grow up - or pay the price”. Marines - no better friend; no worse enemy.

Back in the 50’s (when America was still free), there were some incidents of Marines being beaten in Tijuana, Mexico. Seems like the Commanding General, Camp Pendelton, had had enough. A trainload of marines went down there and cleaned the place out.

Afterwards, Tijuana was a fun place to go.

At least, that’s was the scuttlebutt.

Or, better yet, jacked up, the old people removed, and an entirely new crew of folks moved in to take their places.

Then we can gently lower the cityscape back into place and step out smartly.

If all the kids are obese, would taking food away from them for awhile actually hurt them??

Consequences, Ann Cooper. Consequences. Go complain to your beloved city council idjuts.

Involved Phenix City, Alabama and Fort Benning, Georgia.

It was determined to be necessary to "punish" Phenix City so one of the generals threatened to run tanks into the town. Peace reigned ever after.

There's dispute over the identity of the general although some credit Patton with making the threat.

Here's a chance for another general or two to clean out a bad part of town. Inasmuch as the towncouncil in Berkely is probably not as smart as the crackers who ran Phenix City, I doubt a threat will be enough.

I’ll sign it, but it’s not “fire with fire” enough for me.

The mayor is a former Army Capt.
This is from Berkeley’s city code:

Section 2.12.235 Judicial review of actions. Any person may seek judicial review of any action of the commission. (Ord. 4700-NS § 313, 1974)

I wonder if “anybody” really means anybody ?

If people want me to sign the petition, then the hot button needs to be the largest item in the upper left. I can’t find it. I won’t sign. I am no longer interested.

Maybe we should detonate some nukes along the San Andres fault and turn kaliforina into an island, so they could do their own thing without OUR help and then see how far they would get....
