Steve Forbes, the editor-in-chief of Forbes magazine and himself a former presidential candidate, announced his endorsement Saturday of Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for president.

Forbes had campaigned hard in Florida for former New York Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who dropped out after Tuesday’s primary.

Two other high-profile Giuliani backers — Texas Gov. Rick Perry and former Solicitor General Theodore Olson — also have switched to McCain.

The backing by Forbes is the latest in a cascade of signs that a once-reluctant Republican establishment is embracing McCain, who could wrap up the party’s presidential nomination in three days on Super Tuesday.

He was supporting Rudy. He likes that 25% corporate tax plan.

The lack of any candidate who is a conservative has really made for some interesting endorsements. I had little enough hair before this campaign season, but with these weird endorsements to McCain, Romney and Huckabee, that have left me scratching my head, I have that much less.

I don’t know how much more disgusted I can become over this entire election fiasco, but with 9 months to go, I am sure I’ll be finding out.

Lex has not endorsed McCain. And I never will, course the MSM could care less. But I do have my principles!

I like Steve Forbes but I can’t believe he’s thinking with his brain. McCain is far more likely to raise tax rates than he is to cut them.

Seems a little odd, particularly after McCain’s slam on businessmen in the last debate. Oh well.

He’s got Phil Graham, Jack Kemp, and now Steve Forbes (which I supported for President some time ago). I think Larry Kudlow backs him too.

Gee, this really does show McInsane’s ability to build bridges to disparate elements...the nerds and economics wonks in this case. I wonder when the Log Cabin Republicans will climb aboard and straddle the “Straight (?) Talk Express”..so to speak.

What am I missing here? Has McCain promised them things, either jobs or an actual tax rate reduction, for their support?

He likes that 25% corporate tax plan.

Then you'd think he'd like Mitt's 20% tax plan better.
