It were much less likely with CCW. Knowing that there are no guns in the mall makes the selection of the mall as a shooting gallery much more likely. Where there is CCW and some history of thugs getting shot while mugging or robbing stores nut-thugs are much less apt to go on such sprees because of the enhanced possibility that someone will shoot them before they can kill a respectable number of people.

In all the dispute about what should or shouldn't have been done at U.Va. the likelihood is that the weirdo would most likely NOT have set out to do the shooting in the first place if he knew that some people on that campus might be properly armed. The speculation about whether a person with a CCW could have stopped him before he killed so many would not have been even relevant.

For Chicagoans, CCW = Can’t Carry Weapons.

I think it is illegal (don’t remember the details) in Chicago to even touch a weapon, or buy ammo, without a city issued license.

Not so in Texas, just bought another .45 to carry concealed. After this post, I am looking for a new holster. And I will be carrying 100% of the time. Of course, that is not going to guarantee my safety any more than my car insurance will prevent me for being in an accident.

(For those interested I bought a Taurus Millennium Pro, PT145. Have the PT111, but wanted .45——Old Corps Marine.)
