Can someone explain to me what the deal is with McCain’s elbows/forearms? He doesn’t seem to be able to raise them in a comfortable manner.
It wouldn't surprise me if it was due to his torture at the "Hanoi Hilton." IIRC, both of his arms were broken, and they used that as part of the torture.
The North Vietnamese were absolutely brutal and evil. But it wasn't anywhere near as bad as waterboarding by the CIA, or the conditions at Gitmo!

I think it is a result of the torture he got in VN. They tied his arms behind him and hung him up for hours, separating some muscles from his bones.
When McCain’s plane crashed in Vietnam, both his arms were broken and he also broke a leg..He was beaten by the mob who fished him out of the water and they crushed one of his shoulders and bayoneted him in the foot and abdomen..Then he was thrown in prison and went a month without treatment until the North Vietnamese found out his father was a Rear Admiral in the Paciffic Fleet..They then sent him to a Chinese hospital for treatment..To this day he is unable to completely raise his arms..

He is disabled from the torture
I believe I heard on Fox one time that this is from injuries he suffered when being held as a POW in Viet Nam. He cannot raise his arms over his head anymore.
Could be the result of untreated injuries in the Hanoi Hilton.
They were broken in captivity and he can’t raise them.
I think its from being tortured as a POW, ?multiple fractures both arms? I’m sure someone has the accurate story
I know he can't lift his arms above his shoulders -- either as a result of his crash-landing or his abuse at the Hanoi Hilton, or maybe both.
I really like one rule of the American Kennel Club, which works as a metaphor for humans of several levels: Working dogs should never be penalized for honorable scars.
