Note: the only candidate for me who is below McCain is Ron Paul. I hope this guy is not the nominee. I don't want to do it, but if it is Hillary and McCain, I have to vote for him in November. It is only slightly hyperbolic when I refer to her as Satan's Daughter. While I was in DC recently, I met with a PI who had been hired to harass Kathleen Willey before her testimony in the Jones case. As bad as McCain is, we cannot allow a neo-Stalinist to get back in the White House. It is not just a supposition -- she will shut down talk radio. This will not be a redux of Carter leading to Reagan. If she gets in, she will change the rules and ensure Dem control for decades. She really is dangerous. I would rather do battle with McCain than her. If she wins, I will literally be hiding in a bunker somewhere.

I got the same call today on my wife's business line. All I could say when I heard it is, "Why that lying bastard!" The part about securing the borders was especially contemptible. I found it insulting. He must also think I had forgotten his votes against the Bush tax cuts and his awful comments regarding the Christian right.
John McCain is an enemy of conservatism. He is a collaborator.

We received 3 calls and voted for Mitt Romney all three times. My husband was yelling at someone about how he wouldn’t vote for McCain if he were the last person on earth. Further, he said he would vote for Hillary Clinton if McCain gets the GOP nomination. He was fuming!
I think it’s hilarious that John McCain is now for shutting down the borders, etc. At the last debate, he said he wouldn’t even vote for his own bill now. What a hypocrite and he has to nerve to talk bad about Mitt Romney.
Go, Mitt!

I don’t think you will be alone in that bunker Doug. As for McCain the thought of voting for him makes me sick. But he is old. I would like to know who he plans for a VP. That might make me feel better voting for him somewhat or it might make me feel a whole lot worse. Either way I figure I am not going to be feeling very well for a number of years.

I guess that’s my take as well. But I don’t think McCain can get elected even if nominated. He just plain scares too many people.
You can expect a reprise of the anti-Goldwater advertisement, at least.
“Do you want this guy with his finger on the BUTTON?”
And that will be the least of it.

As your president, I promise to lead our nation and our party as a Ronald Reagan conservative. I'll lower your taxes, veto wasteful government spending, and ensure our party returns to the smaller government principles on which it began.
I'll secure our border first before pursuing any other immigration reform. I'll appoint conservative judges like justices Alito and Roberts. I will protect the sanctity of life; I have a 24-year record to prove it.LIAR!!!

If McCain becomes the nominee, one could make a fortune selling 2008 Presidential Nose Pinchers. One could make them out of clothes pins with the face of John McCain glued on the front. I know I’ll have trouble holding my nose as I work the computerized voting machine we are using at our polling place.

right on the money doug, she will change the rules. I cannot believe how many here on FR have mentioned they will vote for the ‘beast over MACLAME. I cannot stand the guy, he is rotten to the core but the ‘beast is a pure socialist satanic witch who if more people were up on just what she has done in her life would NEVER consider pulling the lever for her. I’d love to write in dunc hunter but I feel that is just helping hillary out so I’ve gotta go with JM or Mitt.

Doug - as much as I have admired your hard work and efforts on behalf of conservatives everywhere, this is where you and I will have to agree to disagree.
The GOP must stop taking conservatives for granted and McCain must not be rewarded for his treachery towards us with our time, money, volunteer service or votes.
America will survive Hillary. Conservatives will not survive McCain.

When it comes to the Reagan Revolution, I was there leading the way... well, I was a foot soldier.
I think we should make those tax cuts "WE" gave you permanent.
We need to find a compassionate way to give illegals who are here a pathway to citizenship.
I have pushed through legislation to makes exercise of the First Amendment more reasoned with regard to elections.
I joined with the gang of fourteen to do something better than what the president had in mind, with regard to judicial appointments.
Enough was enough. It was time to put the issue of MIAs to rest, recognize North Vietnam and facilitate trade.
I didn't think helping the Sandanistas was a good thing. I fought it tooth and nail but by gosh, a nation was freed over my objections.
I was a member of the Keeting Five. It was no big deal. A lot of money was passed around and people lost their life savings. It happens.
Have the actions of this man, earned your vote?

Doug, I got one today too. I slammed the phone down when I heard; “This is John McCain...” I know the Clintons must be stopped at all costs, but what can we do? I cannot, will not, vote for McCain.

According to a genuine conservative, former Senator Rick Santorum (R - PA), John McCain impeded conservative initiatives in the Senate at nearly every opportunity.
How on earth did the Republican party end up with a front-runner who.....
1. Wanted to be John Fn Kerrys running mate??....
2. Was a corrupt member of the Keating Five?....
3. Has been duped by the Euro-socialist global warming alarmists?....
4. Wants to roll out the red carpet for the illegal alien hordes?....
5. Was one of two senators (along with the ignoble Lincoln Chafee) who joined the Democrats in voting against the Bush tax cuts?....
6. Proudly put his name to the most dangerous assault on free speech (McCain-Feingold) in the nations history?....
7. Is older than Bob Dole was when Dole ran for President in 1996, and who would be the oldest man in history to try to win the Presidency as a major party candidate?
Somebody wake me up in 2012 if America is still around.
God help us.

Sounds reasonable to me. If he shows conviction and walks the walk and chooses a VP that is more conservative then he is then I can vote for him. He did vote for Alito and Roberts, McCain is Pro-Life, he has never been a proponent of Gay Marriage or gay rights written into law though he favors letting the states decide the issue which I don’t think is without merit. He also has been strong on holding the line against raising taxes. Maybe someone can find it but I can not find one vote where McCain has ever voted to raise taxes specifically. Some of his rhetoric is questionable but he most certainly isn’t a tax and spend liberal rather the contrary.
He is far more conservative than the other two in the race. They have pledges and he has a record. He has pissed me off and I wish he wasn’t going to be the nominee. I pray for a brokered convention but if we get him and he behaves himself then I’ll give him a chance.
