the funny thing is...this ‘stimulus’ won’t help the economy and it won’t increase the bureaucracy the dems want for patronage...so what’s the point? It doesn’t do anything for anybody

Ah, the stimulus package does do something - it protects incumbent politicians. It will lessen any reaction that a sharp recession would have before the election to "throw the bums out." Incumbents of both major parties want to quiet any widespread electorate outrage and keep the sheep asleep.
