There was general amazement when (the now-muzzled) Bill Clinton did his red-faced, attack-dog, race-baiting performance in South Carolina. Friends, Democrats and media sycophants were variously perplexed, repulsed, enraged, mystified and shocked that this beloved ex-president would so jeopardize his legacy by stooping so low.
What they don't understand is that for Clinton, there is no legacy. What he was doing on the low road from Iowa to South Carolina was fighting for a legacy — a legacy that he knows history has denied him and that he has one chance to redeem.
Clinton is a narcissist but also smart and analytic enough to distinguish adulation from achievement. Among Democrats, he is popular for twice giving them the White House, something no Democrat has done since FDR. And the bouquets he receives abroad are simply signs of the respect routinely given ex-presidents, though Clinton earns an extra dollop of fawning because he is (a) charming and (b) not George W. Bush.

If I remember right, there at first Hillary stuck her foot in her mouth a BUNCH of times till one fine day she seemed to cool her jets a little. It reminds me that someone probably had a long talk with that girl.
Now the same thing with Bill.
Bubba's legacy is the stained blue dress. That's not history's fault, it's his own doing. David Brinkley was spot on about Clinton's victory speech after he defeated Bob Dole in the 1996 election where he talked for 15 minutes before acknowledging his defeated opponent. Brinkley called him a bore among other things. He's even more of one today. Get off the stage pal.
Krauthammer talks about eh “soporific Golden Age that made no demands on leadership. Nonsense.
Much, perhaps all of the planning that went into 9-11 occurred during Clinton’s watch. Certainly the escalation of attacks on embassies and the US Cole occured there. He gutted departments that might have picked up intel and turned his head from actively pursuing those planning terrible harm to us, e.g. OBL. We certainly did need a leader during that time.
And what of N. Korea? Half-bright went over and drank champagne with the Chia Pet....and the administration apparently stupidly believed the lies of a communist dictator with no track record of trusworthiness. Plenty of real leadership was needed there too.
Otherwise a decent enough article, but history should depict Clinton wearing his toga, olive wreath on his head and fiddling while the smoke was becoming heavier all the time.

I read "None Dare Call It Conspiracy" (Gary Allen, intro by Cong. John G. chmitz, 1971, Concord Press) centuries ago.
Though I couldn't quote a single word, the flavor of that book is part of my mental nachinations.
To answer your question specifically ... yeah ... I think I am.
