ORLANDO, Fla. -- A group of 100 people lined an Orlando road over the weekend, claiming the Church of Scientology is a dangerous cult.
The group of protestors waved signs along East Colonial Drive and said the church is responsible for crimes and even deaths, Local 6 reported.
Saturday night, the Church of Scientology of Orlando issued a statement thanking the Orlando police for their support during the protest.
The statement from Dr. Lee Sheldon of the Church of Scientology of Orlando said, "While we recognize the right to legal protest, when such protest escalates to spreading lies and hate speech, it is a concern for everyone. We look forward to continuing to provide service to the city of Orlando and Central Florida."
They’re gonna get sued.
Ask the $cientologists what happened to Lisa McPherson.
Look out for snakes in your mailboxes, dudes......
Waste of time....if your going to protest a dangerous cult, protest ISLAM!!!!!
MUHAMMED is XENU!!!
I know the Pinellas county (Clearwater, Scientology HQ) sheriffs department is huge and very active. They’re all over the place doing what police would normally do. On a 3-mile drive yesterday I saw 3 stops of motorists for nothing apparent.
Since I don’t know a $cientologist to ask, you tell me: What happened to Lisa McPearson?
It dates back about 10 years or more. Lisa McPherson was held captive by the “church” and died. Major scandal.
The PCSO is the primary policing agency for about half of Pinellas County, and it’s about 100 miles from yesterday’s protest.
With a subscription to Human Events you get the “Politically Incorrect Guide to Islam” . . . which is well worth reading.
Yeah, I know that, I live there. Clearwater is the Scientology headquarters which is in... Pinellas county.
thanks for the Lisa McPherson link....I wasn’t aware of this case and was sobered by reading about it....I’m going to be paying a lot closer attention to Scientology from now on....and BTW isn’t the German government investigating Scientology in that country?
Poor little clams.
Snap! Snap! Snap!
Locked in a room, starved and dehydrated until she died.
Sound familiar?
Google “Schiavo” and “Scientology” for some interesting reading. Particularly about George Felos.
Sure makes me wonder about some or the "religious" choices out there, though.
If found that out while visiting Clearwater in Dec 04. I thought something was weird when I saw ‘them’ dressed somewhat the same and walking in unison waiting at the crosswalks. I questioned it thinking something’s weird here and while visiting a RE office, I noticed the coldness. They knew I wasn’t one of their own. It was only on our last day that I found out what the weirdness was all about. It’s truly cult like. That new refurbished dome-like government building is both beautiful and huge.
“I marvel that ye are so soon removed from Him that called you into the grace of Christ into another gospel. Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the the gospel of Christ. But though an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you, let him be accursed. As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel, unto you than ye have received, let him be accursed.” (Galatians 1:6-9)
Notice any large pods?
Are there links between Florida Gov. Crist and Scientology?
