ORLANDO, Fla. -- A group of 100 people lined an Orlando road over the weekend, claiming the Church of Scientology is a dangerous cult.
The group of protestors waved signs along East Colonial Drive and said the church is responsible for crimes and even deaths, Local 6 reported.
Saturday night, the Church of Scientology of Orlando issued a statement thanking the Orlando police for their support during the protest.
The statement from Dr. Lee Sheldon of the Church of Scientology of Orlando said, "While we recognize the right to legal protest, when such protest escalates to spreading lies and hate speech, it is a concern for everyone. We look forward to continuing to provide service to the city of Orlando and Central Florida."
Now it’s like a zombie ghost town.
I haven’t heard of any, but it is Florida. It’s worth exploring.
I know Mark Foley was cozy with them.
Lol, Westworld.
Yo, Redleg!
Yes indeed the German govenment is investigating Scientology..one of Scientology’s big issues now is a PR campaign against Germany because of this issue. There was a great article on Scientology in Rolling Stone, but I can’t remember which issue. Weird stuff. Having read it, I can say that Scientology has taken the ‘tithe’ concept a few steps further...instead of a percentage of your income, as is usual with most churches, they charge a flat fee. Nice. Very businesslike. Hmm. Business, or religious institution deserving tax free status.
Not for me to decide. I’d gladly see this ‘church’ shut down just to shut Tom Cruise up. OK, he’d probably join the Moonies, or better yet start his own church.
And I’ve been to Clearwater recently, it’s not that bad. 1 Irish pub (O’Keefes) still open and serving GREAT Shepherd’s Pie with Guiness Gravy...any religious types I encountered shuffling about, I treated like Krishnas and either gave them the cold frightening stare, or a good metaphysical shoulder to the sternum. Eh, whatever I wasn’t bothered. Peace.
Nope. It was definitely Rolling Stone. But thanks for the link to the Time article. Fascinating stuff. I’ll figure out which issue of R.S. it was in. I don’t save my back issues. After I read them, I donate them to the local public library. Been out of town, so haven’t had much time to look stuff up. Thanks again! Peace.
