"However, that article on him (I read it) was a pack of lies on top of lie and fabrication."

I am almost certain that it is a pack of lies. This pack of lies was likely posited in hopes that everyone would realize that and think that everything else being said about him is a pack of lies as well. Pretty damned clever, I think.

Folks: The ONLY thing that matters here is this:

These stories will be downplayed by the media until he is nominated, then they will repeat them over and over as truth.

whether or not they are true has never had anything to do with what democraps are willing to say to get elected.

See the remainder of this excerpt up above:

Here is the article by JAMES H. WARNER, McCain’s fellow P.O.W.:

Recently, I have seen several allegations that condemn Senator John McCain for his behavior as a prisoner of war. I believe that these allegations are false. I am in a better position than the Senator’s accusers to know the truth since I was a prisoner with him, having been captured a little over a month before him. I have contacted hundreds of my comrades on our e-mail list and not one of them can confirm anything that has been alleged against McCain. Let me tell you what they have told me and what I saw myself, and answer some of the charges.

First, I should say that I have great respect for Senator McCain, even though I am at odds with him on many issues and have remained distant from his campaign. I say this up front because I think that a defense mounted by one of his supporters would be less credible.

A few days ago, an article came to our attention claiming that there was evidence that John McCain collaborated with the communists during his captivity.

I am not concerned with that. My concern is that John McCain collaborates with Democrats today.

John McCain is a Collaborator

I did...and responded in post 3.

I will not attack McCain's POW status or time. I respect and am humbled by what all of those men went through for serving their country and being taken by such animal enemies.

That does not change my opposition to his political activites, as I point out in post 3.

One I purposely did not list there because it is too easy for some people to try and tie to his POW time (which I do not tie to it), is the arrogant and mean spirited way he treated veterans and their families who opposed him in the hearings on normalization of relations with Vietnam.

Despite his own service and his own treatment at the hands of the NV...I did not appreciate the way he treated those other vets. He did not have to be so acidic to them at all while maintaining his political position on that issue (which I also did not agree with).

And what, specifically, about the Keating 5 do you find most damning?

Whereas there are different levels of heroes, and certainly, McCain is on some level a hero, I don’t believe his treatment of the MIA families respected the heroes left behind.

I would recommend checking out Ted Sampley and balancing, as best as one can, what he says, what others say about him and what the record shows. The truth may lie somewhere in between.

How McCain manipulated his personal life when he returned and his preference of political ties with Viet Nam over the interests of fellow military personnel that bothers me (aside from his detrimental legislation). I am waiting to see if I will have to overcome a revulsion based on things long past, in order to prevent a revulsion based on things more recent and all-too-likely in the future.

I mean no disrespect, but it would be easiest for me if you just google it.

I’m old enough to remember it well.

No seriously, what is the single most important thing I should know about the Keating 5? it is something I am curious about. If it stands out so clearly in your mind, it should not be a problem to write one or two sentences about it. I would really appreciate it.

James H. Warner is a retired attorney. He served as a domestic policy advisor to President Ronald Reagan from 1985 until 1989.

This Warner guy sounds very reasonable and competent. Also, a genuine footsoldier in the Reagan Revolution.

Can we vote Warner for President?

Well, if McCain gets the nominee, ALL conservatives should immediately withdraw from the Republican Party.

We then need to all find a third party candidate to get behind and support.

WE need to make sure the message is sent AND received!

On a thread I read last night, someone posted these remarks made by one of McCain's advisor's...

Everyone understands the political stakes. John McCain is going to be the nominee, and conservatives don't want Hillary or Obama in the White House. They will support John McCain."

They believe we will vote for McCain to keep Hillery out. They are so very wrong. There is little difference between Hillery and McCain, and at least Hillery is suppose to hate conservatives, McCain has no excuse.

His involvement, and his serving no time for it.

Yes, it is the man’s status as a war casualty that should not be attacked. I’m all right with anyone questioning any candidate’s record.

But, in all things military I do defer to him. He is the son of an admiral, who was the son of an admiral, and he himself attained the rank of Navy Captain. The military is in his blood, and I’ve no doubt that he was injured by it.

It cannot help but affecting his mind. I cannot believe it didn’t. I have years of experience as a military counselor, and there is no way that McCain is not injured in ways we don’t see.

His outbursts are one indication of the injury. I believe this is addressed in the letter from his fellow POW:

“He heard the voices of the officers rising until they were shouting angrily at McCain and threatening him. This was followed by screams of agony from John McCain, and a stream of obscenities from him. He could not see what they did to him and I never heard from John McCain what it was...”

In this regard, the man has my sympathy.

Who needs scurrilous lies? How about a few truths? McCain-Feingold violates our 1st Amendment rights. McCain-Kennedy is an amnesty bill for illegal aliens. The Keating 5 scandal. The "Gang of 14" subversion of the Republican majority. McCain-Lieberman Gun Control laws. Voting against the Bush tax cuts. Dumping his first wife for a rich trophy wife. Embracing "global warming" by co-sponsoring a "carbon cap and trade" scheme that will trash the U.S. economy. Favoring closure of Gitmo. Opposing water boarding as a means of interrogating terrorist suspects.

Seeking special favors for the corrupt S&L crook Charles Keating.
