Camelot or Cesspool?

By Jackie Mason & Raoul Felder

Published 2/5/2008 12:07:06 AM

The Kennedys recently endorsed Barack Obama, and Teddy Kennedy drew a parallel with President Kennedy -- a vision of a new Camelot rising like a phoenix from the ashes of the Bush administration. Either he was addressing the largest group of amnesiacs ever gathered in one place in history or the media and much of America have been eating funny mushrooms and are in the throes of a mass delusion.....

The Bay of Pigs was not his design it was in the works before he took office and sprung on him as a fait accompli.

If he has any culpability for the debacle it was in not having the character to tell the CIA and Pentagon to go to hell and putting the kibosh on the whole hare-brained operation.

Not just my opinion, then newly-recruited Cuban-American CIA operative Felix Rodrigues (who among other things, later helped run ol “Che” to earth in Bolivia) in his memoirs declared the Bay of Pigs to be the unworkable debacle (think Dieppe) that cemented Fidel’s hold on Cuba. Prior to that, his was an unstable, unpopular, newly-installed and tottering dictatorship, assailed by Cuban dissidents on all sides. The CIA had been doing an effective job of funding and equipping them for numerous raids and operations. The attempted invasion cemented his legitimacy, rallied people to him and set his rule in concrete.

All of the US political system is now a cesspool. That shouldn’t be a surprise, though. It’s managed by my fellow Baby Boomers.

“The liberals hug Robert Kennedy’s memory”

But they prefer not to remember that his assassin, Sirhan Bishara Sirhan was a Palestinian immigrant, consumed with hatred (and NOT insane) who killed Bobby to publicize the palestinian cause and strike down a presidential candidate he though too sympathetic to Israel.

Just as they prefer not to remember that Lee Harvey Oswald was a communist (if he was anything).

I saw Robert Deniro support Obama. He cracked me up . Some goofy crap about if we needed a president that had experience running a war we should elect VP Cheney.

I wonder if he realized he off handily endorsed Cheney...

Appropriate punctuation could make such a difference in the meaning here.
