I understand. I guess what I meant is not so much the avg conservative voter out there, but more the struggle for control of the party.

I was watching (I think) CNN and the pundits (whoever they were) were saying that if McCain wins the nomination, that will be a breakthrough for the GOP. That the party will see that it no longer needs conservatives to win elections if it can win with enough moderates.

Basically conservatives were portrayed as a liability the GOP tolerates because it has to...kindof like the Clintons on the dem side.

That’s what I’m worried about.

You are right. He has joined the Al Gore church of globalm warming and would impose gasoline taxes....50 a gallon on Americans.
He is as much a socialist as Hillary and Obama

As I was reminded recently, "The Republican party used to be the party of religious freedom."

Some evangelicals think religious freedom means you are free to worship exactly the way they do.

Just today, my folks started checking into McCain, they called me this afternoon to tell me that if he is the nominee, they wont be voting for President this year.

The truth about McCain is going around their church and they don’t like what they see.

Gonna be a bad year. I have never known my folks to not vote.

“My problems with Romney are TRUST!!!!”

For me, it's not so much that Romney can't be trusted. Lord knows, there's been plenty of false claims on both sides.

Voters (and I'm talking about the BROAD PUBLIC) have not had sufficient time to get to know him. Had the Republican field not been so candidate rich, this would not have been the case.

Consider today and what's going on. Then think about this...

Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth?
I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
For from henceforth there shall be five in one house divided,
three against two, and two against three.
The father shall be divided against the son,
and the son against the father;
the mother against the daughter,
and the daughter against the mother;
the mother in law against her daughter in law,
and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

"Wake Up!" It's time to get involved. It's time to vote.

Even bad things happen for a "reason." We must do our best. Read the excerpt from "Wake UP!"

This is the guy you’re voting for:

Keating 5.
POW/MIA Betrayal.
Voted against President Bush’s tax cuts.
Gang of 14.
McCain/Feingold suppresion of political free speech.
McCain/Kennedy Shamnesty.

I will skip the “President” line of the ballot before I’ll vote for McCain.

‘Nuff said.

re: McCain is being nominated by people who have NO intention of voting for him in the General Election)))

If McCain was really pulling support like this, he'd have a lot more in donations. The votes are just mischief.

When pressed to answer a question about illegal immigrants in his home state, Sen.

McCain refuses to answer, while his supporters tell a woman who wants him to answer

the question to shut up and she is thrown out of the town hall meeting. See the video

here:

http://www.metacafe.com/watch/1073039/dont_ask_mccain/

McCain’s voting record:

Voted YES on establishing a Guest Worker program. (May 2006)

Voted YES on allowing illegal aliens to participate in Social Security. (May 2006)

Voted YES on giving Guest Workers a path to citizenship. (May 2006)

Voted YES on allowing more foreign workers into the US for farm work. (Jul 1998)

Supports federal funding of embryonic stem cell research. (May 2007)

Voted YES on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines. (Apr 2007)

Voted NO on constitutional ban of same-sex marriage. (Jun 2006)

Voted NO on ending special funding for minority & women-owned business. (Oct 1997)

1st Amendment - Freedom of Speech not a shield for hate groups. (Aug 1999)

NAFTA has had unambiguously positive impact on US. (Mar 1999)

Pro-NAFTA, pro-GATT, pro-MFN, pro-Fast Track. (Jul 1998)

Voted YES on implementing CAFTA for Central America free-trade. (Jul 2005)

Rated 100% by CATO, indicating a pro-free trade voting record. (Dec 2002)

Supports ban on certain assault weapons. (Aug 1999)

Guns are a problem, but so are violent web sites & videos. (Aug 1999)

Punish criminals who abuse 2nd Amendment rights. (May 1999)

Voted YES on more penalties for gun & drug violations. (May 1999)

Voted YES on reauthorizing the PATRIOT Act. (Mar 2006)

Voted YES on extending the PATRIOT Act’s wiretap provision. (Dec 2005)

Here are some other reasons why we need to defeat McCain:

1. Wants to Close Gitmo. This would be counterproductive to our war on terror and

endanger US citizens when these terrorists are given US Constitutional rights as US

prisoners.

2. Against Water boarding. If McCain does not have the stomach to have the mastermind

behind 9/11 aggressively interrogated, he should not have the power to send our

soldiers into battle. This guy is more concerned about what the elite media and the

socialists of Europe think of us than what the US military and citizens think.

3. Wants Trade Caps. McCain admits a limited knowledge of economics, as a 27-year

Washington insider, and his support of this in the last debate will KILL JOBS.

4. Wants Carbon Taxes. This is another job killer based on the hoax of global warming.

Raising taxes on businesses ALWAYS results in economic problems because

businesses — the entities that create jobs — have to cut personnel, overhead and

expansion to pay for the bogus taxes and stay profitable.

5. Admits Ignorance of Economics. See the previous two bullets as evidence of this.

Romney has run businesses efficiently and he can bring that expertise to cut

government and save taxpayer money.

6. Possible Kerry VP. McCain’s only allegiance is to McCain, not the American people. He

is selfish and he demonstrated that in South Carolina when he said ‘it’s my turn.’

7. McAmnesty. The unenforceable provisions of the McCain / Kennedy bill would have

amounted to a flood of millions of low-skilled workers from south of the border who see

this as a free ride. There is no way that the government could collect $3000 from the

12-20 millions who are already here. To believe this is to have false faith in the efficiency

of government. If you don’t secure the border first, there is nothing to stop millions of

low-skilled workers from turning our nation into Mexico Norte.

8. Social Security for Illegals. This is another part of McAmnesty that shows McCain’s

economic ignorance. The system has be turned over to the individuals who have been

paying into it so they can use their money as they wish. Accepting illicit funds from

illegals who have used stolen SSNs is not the way to fix social security.

9. Seriously Considered Leaving GOP. Again, it’s McCain’s way or the highway and I

suspect that he’d be a democrat if he thought he could get elected as one. This was

recently documented in an article on Politico.com.

10. Against Energy Independence. McCain is against drilling in ANWR and this keeps us

more dependent upon foreign nations for our energy supply. This is unacceptable.

11. He voted against the Bush tax cuts. Even moderate democrats voted with Bush on

the tax cuts that helped spur the economy in the wake of 9/11. The only other republican

who voted with McAmnesty was Lincoln Chafee. Both guys should have their portraits

in the RINO hall of shame.

12. Mainstream Media Favorite. The New York Times endorsed McCain and all TV

networks love this guy because he attacks conservatives at every turn.

13. Phony Conservative Record. McCain’s “83% American Conservative Union rating is

ONLY on pro-life votes, which is good but it does not tell the whole story. The fact that

McCain / Fiengold attacked free speech and pro-life at the SAME TIME! Just ask the

Wisconsin right-to-life folks (see link below). McCain’s OVERALL rating was 65%

“Intresting Frank Lutz focus group. Made up of “Moderates”. Most are supporting Obama. When asked if any would support McCain NONE of them said they would cross over.”

Obama hasn’t been savaged yet in the general election as an off-the-wall, raving liberal with a questionable past. I’m not saying it’s a slam dunk by any stretch, but Lutz’s numbers don’t mean much right now.

“And for all of those out there that are slamming McCain on abortion, and gun votes. . .” my thoughts exactly. It’s not like we have some perfect candidate to choose. There are arguments to be made for all three candidates. I’ll support whoever’s chosen.

True enough Little Ray, but who is the Romney we are voting for? Who is the Huckabee we are voting for. I could make a list of their foibles, but we all know them by now.

Sorry, but McQueeg’s crimes outweigh ‘em all.
Then again, I don’t like any of them - I just dislike McCain more than the rest.
